Der Jahresrückblick 2013 ist durch, 19 Redakteure haben abgestimmt, und wir haben den ersten Gewinner: Das With Full Force Festival 2013 lag in der Redaktionsgunst am weitesten oben und wurde am häufigsten genannt. Gefolgt von Metal Hammer Paradise und M'era Luna, die sich Platz zwei und drei teilen. Auf unserer Facebook-Seite stellen wir ab 16 Uhr auch die besten Bands und das beste Album 2013 vor. Um letzteres könnt ihr dann auch abstimmen - also: Was war in euren Ohren 2013 das beste Album?
Der zweifelsfrei, neben JIMMY HENDRIX, wohl der einflussreichste Rockgitarrist des Jahrhunderts feiert heute Geburtstag:
Der Gründer von LED ZEPPELIN, Jimmy Page, wird stolze siebzig Jahre alt.
Dieser Künstler, dessen Händen von der Mandoline bis zur Ukulele alles was mit Saiten zu tun berabeitet haben, was man schlagen, reißen oder zupfen kann, hat sich als reiner Autodidakt seit seinem 12en Lebensjahr später als einsatzfreudiger Studiomusiker (zunächst bei den YARDBIRDS später bei den Zeppelinen) alles selbst beigebracht.
Er brachte die Doubleneck-Gitarre so richtig zum Einsatz, sein verzerrtes Gitarrenspiel mit vielen virtuosen Kontrasten gebar Riffs für die Ewigkeit und brachte Klassiker wie "Kashmir", „Rock And Roll“, "Whole lotta Love" und natürlich "Stairway to Heaven" hervor.
Damit wurde der heutige „Hardrock“ oder „Heavy Metal“ überhaupt erst möglich.
Wir verneigen uns für diese Leistung vor Jimmy Page und wünschen herzlich alles gute zum Geburtstag!

"Some words about the past and the future :
More than a year has passed since our latest release Suffocating In The Swarm Of Cranes.
With more than 100 shows played in 2013, last year has been the most intense in the history of this band so far! Three European Tours, a full US Tour, several single shows and festivals! Memories we will keep for a long time. We are still remembering those hot days in desert of New Mexico, on the other side those freezing cold nights in St. Petersburg, Russia. Driving down old Route66 (by mistake) or getting arrested at the border in Finland! We are pretty thankful for all the possibilities, adventures and places we were able to discover in the last couple of months, thankful for all of the amazing people we met around the globe and the new friends we made! Unfortunately intense touring can also have it´s bad and exhausting sides and people start to rethink about priorities in life. We also had our ups and downs and as a result of changing priorities we sadly have to announce that Hannes decided to leave the band and focus on other things in life! We respect his decision but we are also 100% willing to continue with a new drummer!
We don't want to lose too many words about it and wish him all the best for his future. To keep things short – From now on we are looking for a new drummer! If someone out there is serious about it - just drop us a line via booking@downfallofgaia.com and we will figure out the rest!
Besides all of that we are still looking forward to 2014 and some great plans that are in the making! Even with all of those circumstances - all planned shows will take place and no show will be cancelled! Feel free to spread the news and the word!
Letzten Herbst gerüchtete es ja schon, dass THE HAUNTED sich personell wieder zusammengerauft haben, jetzt gibt es endlich das erste Lebenszeichen im neuen, fast alten Line-Up. THE HAUNTED bestehen Anno 2014 aus den Gründungsmitgliedern Jensen (git), Jonas Björler (bs) und Adrian Erlandsson (dr) und werden um den Langzeit-Sänger Marco Aro und den Gitarren-Wizard Ola Englund verstärkt, letzterer machte sich in seiner eigenen Band FEARED und als Tour-Gitarrist bei SIX FEAT UNDER einen Namen.
Der neue Tonträger ist eine 3-Track-Single und erscheint am 17. Januar digital und als limitierte 7” EP (1000 Stück Gesamtauflage, wie folgt: 500x schwarzes Vinyl, 300 x rotes Vinyl und 200x weißes Vinyl).
Dieses erste Lebenszeichen kommentiert Gitarrist Jensen wie folgt: "There aren't superlatives enough to describe how much the band has longed for these three songs to be released. We are sure fans have been anxious to know what the band sounds like today after all the turmoil and old members leaving and new members joining. We feel that these three songs represent the band perfectly. We are currently working on the new album, an album that will be filled to the brim with what we know to be "The Haunted". We'll start doing gigs this spring and we'll do festivals all over the place this summer. Get in touch with the festivals you visit (and behave like an animal at) and tell them to get us on the bill! The Haunted is back. Play it loud. No. Louder."
COMEBACK KID haben neben den ganzen Touren und dem SIGHTS AND SOUNDS-Nebenprojekt von Shouter Andrew tatsächich Zeit und Muße für Songwriting und Aufnahmen gefunden: "Die Knowing" erscheint am 07.03. via Victory Records, mehr Infos folgen in Kürze.
Mit "Wolverines" steht ein neues I AM THE AVALANCE-Album an, von dem mit "The Shape I'm In" ein erster Song gepostet wurde. Erscheinen wird der Longplayer Mitte März.
