Sänger Mike Pilat hatte wohl keinen Bock mehr auf das exzessive Touren von THE OCEAN (141 Shows allein 2008) und die Band verlassen.
"Mike is no longer with us. He's got his reasons, and we understand and respect them. THE OCEAN has played the ridiculous amount of 141 shows in the past 12 months, and travelled an insane 75704 (!!!) of road kilometers between Kiew, Ukraine and Los Angeles, California.
The life we lead isn't made for everyone. Only some of my closest friends understand what life is like when you spend half of the year on the road. There is not much time for girlfriends, friends, family, career or any so-called private life. And yet the upsides make up for it: the chance to see places we would never get to see otherwise, the chance to constantly meet new people, all the countless moments of intensity, passion and craziness. Our tour diaries tell the story, there's a new one coming up here from the previous tour soon.

WEDNESDAY 13 hat mit BOURBON CREW ein Nebenprojekt, dessen viertes Album "Long Way To The Bottom" im Mai erscheinen soll - als Vorgeschmack gibt es ab sofort "Those Southern Times" und "Long Way To The Bottom" bei MySpace zu hören.
Als das Video zu „The Empire Of The Sun” vom US-Magazin Billboard Anfang 2009 als Nummer 1 in der Kategorie New Rock gelistet wird, sind die Berliner THE MINT mit den Vorbereitungen zur Veröffentlichung ihres neuen Albums beschäftigt. Mit der Single-Auskopplung „Seize The Day“ und SPV im Rücken soll nun auch in der deutschen Heimat gepunktet werden. Der Titel kommt dabei als leicht melancholischer Ohrwurm daher, die Mischung aus Pop und Rock ist auf Airplay getrimmt. Daneben gibt es noch eine Demo Acoustic Version des erfolgreichen „The Empire Of The Sun” (vom gleichnamigen Debüt). Zur Zeit sind ja Bands wie THE KILLERS, die zahmen MANDO DIAO oder auch KINGS OF LEON in aller Munde – und in den Charts. THE MINT haben eine ähnliche Zielrichtung, die Single „Seize The Day“ zwar noch nicht ganz das Format, aber gespannt macht der Appetizer auf das Album allemal.
