Band:

Electric Eel Shock

Biografie"Electric Eeel Shock´s ferocious live show is the most relentlessly energetic we´ve seen in ages... their stage presence is frightening."

EES are:

Aki Morimoto - Guitar & Vo

Kazuto Maekawa - Bass

Tomoharu ´Gian´ Ito - Drums

And countless people all over the world who have helped along the way
Since 1997 Electric Eel Shock (aka EES - Rock & Roll Monster) super-charged live performances have had an enormous impact on the Japanese Garage Rock scene. However ever since EES´s first visit to the US back in 1999 their appearances back home have become more and more infrequent. Now Japanese fans are more likely to read about them in Kerrang! or Rolling Stone than actually get to see them live!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apart from spending four weeks rest in Japan back in June, Electric Eel Shock have been on the road touring the globe since October 2002... In this time they have been around the US, Canada, UK (3 times), Ireland (twice), Scotland, Wales, Holland, Germany, Denmark...

Are they going to stop? No! Well not until world domination (or Christmas - whichever comes soonest!!!)

At the end of the next six months EES have giged in 20 Countries this year by touring in US, Hong Kong, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, UK, Denmark and Finland.

By the end of 2003 Electric Eel Shock´s world tour will have taken them (not including air travel) over 120,000 Kilometers (about 75,000 miles).

That is the same as driving over a third of the way to the Moon... or ten times around it... Three times around the globe or nearly once around Uranus! (See the News Section for Tour Maps)

June, July, August 2003:

Electric Eel Shock kicked off their third visit to the UK in front of 1500 people at the Kerrang! Game On Festival in the Millenium Dome... EES were a massive hit and the pick of the festival for most reviewers...

Game On was followed by EES´s first trip to mainland Europe:
Holland, Denmark, Germany - The highlight being Roskilde Festival where EES walked out onto the stage in front of 7000 crazed Fins, Danes, Swedes, Germans etc. by the end of the set almost the entire crowd joined in the chant: "EES... The New Metallica!" Wow! What a night!

EES then returned to the UK for a tour made up of festivals and gigs around England, Ireland Wales and Scotland (including The Shetland Islands!)...

The last UK gig was in London at Feet First the capitals longest running and largest Rock Club... a great send off for EES as they head for the US....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January to June 2003:

“Electric Eel Shock may be from Japan but their music and fanbase is rooted right here in the USA” MTV USA

After it seemed that EES were going to be left behind by their piers such as The Datsuns and The D4 during 2002. EES responded by storming into 2003 like a runaway bullet train... January saw them make their first visit to the UK. They arrived unknown with a handful of gigs lined up and left 10 days later having played 14 shows all over London, the last of which was in front of a crowd of 2500 at the old Hammersmith Palais (now PoNaNas) supporting multi platinum selling Aussie rockers Grinspoon.

Returning to their US tour EES steped up to headlining their own sow at SXSW (having supporting The Datsuns and The D4 last year) and were the talk of the week long mecca for all things independent. Fox News, CBS and local TV channel, Austin Music Network all interviewed them and filmed their awesome daytime showcase at Emo’s and at their sat night gig there were as many people outside the venue staring through the windows as there were moshing inside.

In LA MTV showed up to film at the legendary Viper Room. MTV also interviewed the band in New York a week or so later before putting them on the plane to the UK…

EES´s first full UK tour saw them spreading the word even further and now after a months rest in Tokyo (the first since October of last year) they are ready for a season of European Festivals and assorted dates… EES say "See you there!!"

From 1997 to 2002:

Electric Eel Shock released their first album "Maybe... I think We Can Beat Nirvana" back in 1997. The following year they released their live album "Live Punctured", and by 1999, they had established their own independent label "Micro Music".
In April of ´99, E.E.S. executed their first tour of New York. Shortly afterward they released their second studio album entitled "Slayer´s Bay Blues". They returned to New York for two more shocking tours including a performance at the renowned NYC’s CMJ Music Festival 2000. In all the places that they performed the audiences grew larger and larger with each performance.

In February 2001 they finished a tour of Canada and the U.S. that included such legendary clubs as New York´s CBGB and Toronto´s El Mocambo. Then in June they hit the road again for a nationwide tour of Japan, following it with a tremendously successful return tour of the U.S. and Canada.

Audiences continued to go crazy for their high voltage music. In June 2001, E.E.S. released a new split CD with the American band, The Get-Go from San Francisco, entitled "E.G. Split", which helped to spread Eel Shock´s rock to new territories.

In September 2001, E.E.S. won through to the CMJ Music Marathon again. They intended to go on a North America tour including a showcase at the festival, but it was 11th of September when they left Japan… Some gigs were obviously cancelled but they carried through it sharing stages with the likes of The Datsuns, The D4 and The Warlocks and won the highest praise.

In March 02, they toured West Coast and Texas. The final performance of the tour was at SXSW Music Festival in Austin where they played with both The D4 and The Datsuns once again. EES hit the US and Canadian highways once again in November 2002 to promote new album "GO America!". The first ´break´ in their schedule coming in January 2003 when they spent just over a week in the UK.

As everyone who been to see their shows know words do not really do EES justice. But their energy and power is spreading all over the world and you will also see it!

ELECTRIC EEL SHOCK sind ein Phänomen. Das Trio aus Tokyo vermischt Punkrock, Rock ´n Roll und 80er Jahre Heavy Metal, als wenn es das Selbstverständlichste der Welt wäre.

Reviews

Beat Me - Cover
Transworld Ultra Rock - Cover
Dass ELECTRIC EEL SHOCK eine geniale Live-Band sind, haben sie in den letzen Jahren durch nahezu ununterbrochenes Touren zu Genüge bewiesen.
