BLOODRED

2009:

Ron Merz starts writing songs under the name BLOODRED for the first time. Initially alone, he went looking for fellow (live) musicians, which unfortunately was not very successful. Nevertheless, he continues to write new music and records it with limited possibilities in the home studio.

2014:

In 2013 Ron first made contact with Alexander Krull in the nearby Mastersound Studios for the first time. The plan is to record an EP with two songs. Joris Nijenhuis (Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes) joins the project as a drummer and the recordings take place in 2014. The EP THE LOST ONES is released in the same year.

2016:

After the all around positive experiences with the recording for the EP, Ron Merz starts working on the first full-length album. With six new songs in his luggage, he teames up again with Alexander Krull and Joris Nijenhuis and begins the recording for NEMESIS in the Mastersound Studios. Stefan Heilemann, who is internationally recognized for his work for Nightwish, Leaves’ Eyes or Dimmu Borgir, can be recruited for the album artwork. NEMESIS is released in April 2016 and receives high praise from international critics.

2018:

Shortly after the release of NEMESIS, Ron Merz started writing new songs. Following the motto "Never change a winning team", BLOODRED is planning to work with Alex Krull, Joris Nijenhuis and Stefan Heilemann again. The first recordings for the album will take place in 2018, but it will take over a year until the complete album is finished.

2020:

After all recordings have been completed and the album has been mixed and mastered, Stefan Heilemann starts to create an impressive artwork for the album THE RAVEN’S SHADOW. He not only captures the topic perfectly, but also brings in a new brilliant idea with the “Rorschach Test” concept.  The album shows BLOODRED matured again in songwriting and the powerful and transparent sound is a clear development. THE RAVEN’S SHADOW will be released on May 18 2020 as CD DIGIPAK and digital.
