Band:

Requiem (CH)

BiografieREQUIEM was founded in the middle of 1997 by Phil Klauser (Guitars), Ralph Inderbitzin (Guitars) and Roger Kradolfer (Drums). All of us played in several Punk-, Thrash- or Black Metal bands before. In early 1998, after a long time in search of a bass player and vocalist, Michi Kuster (Vocals/Bass) was added to the line-up. At that time we played a mix between Black- and Death-Metal and recorded a Mini-CD called "Prophecies Of A Dark Millenium" at a friends home-studio. This CD has never been released, we´ve only made some copies for our friends and promoters. By and by we had our first shows end of 1998. In early 1999, we replaced our old drummer Roger Kradolfer with Adi Fuhrer, who had already played in several swiss Metal-projects (ex-Corruption, ex-Parusie, ex-Megora). After Adi joined the band, our musical direction changed towards Florida-style Death-Metal. During a six month break from playing live, we wrote a completely new live set which we presented at our first gig with Adi end of October 1999. Being a part of it, a great Death-Metal era was reborn. Thanks a lot to all who supported the scene and REQUIEM all the years! Keep the roots of Death-Metal alive!
In the middle of January 2001, we recorded our first 5-song Mini-CD called "Nameless Grave" at the Dynamo Studio, Zürich (CH), which was released in March 2001 through Fastbeast Entertainment (CH). After playing a lot of gigs in Europe (at this time we played more than 40 shows) and signing a deal with Revenge Productions (GER) in February 2002, we decided to record a new full-length CD, called "Formed At Birth". Two days before the beginning of the recording sessions, our drummer Adi left the band. Two months later, we finally found a great replacement, who was very motivated to play drums and record with us: Reto Crola from the swiss band Punish. In January 2003, we recorded "Formed At Birth" at the Dynamo Studio in Zürich (CH) again and released the CD in March 2003 through Revenge Productions (GER). We played a lot of shows and festivals in Europe and were proud to support the legendary Messiah-Reunion show "Reanimation 2003" at Abart Music Club in Zürich (CH). End of 2003, Reto had to take a break due to his job and other projects. As a result of that, former member Adi Fuhrer was back in REQUIEM as a session drummer. Further on, we engaged former Messiah bass player Patrick Herrsche, who took over the bass parts from Michi Kuster. That allowed us to play even better shows! The year 2004 started as a great year for us: We played at the Fuck The Commerce (GER) and the Obscene Extreme Festival (CZ) and had a great tour with Benediction (UK), Master (US) and Divine Empire (US) through Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Considering our new recording "Government Denies Knowledge", we decided to assign the drummer position with Reto again permanently.
Due to health problems of bass player Patrick Herrsche, bass player Ralf Winzer (ex-Bonedust, ex-Curare, Uppercut) took over the place in November 2004 for the recording sessions of the new CD and further shows in 2005. In early 2005, we recorded our new full-length effort "Government Denies Knowledge". This production was mixed and mastered by canadian masterminds Jean-François Dagenais from Kataklysm (CAN) and Bernard Belley. Many record labels showed interest in releasing "Government Denies Knowledge". Finally, we signed a contract with the german label Massacre Records. The new CD will be released in January 2006. We hit the road in september 2005 as support for US Death-Metal band Vital Remains on their european tour and played in eight different countries.

Government Denies Knowledge - Cover
