Sunrise started in 1994/1995 in Ostrowiec Św./Poland. 4 kids, who were pretty pissed off, coming from a punk and metal background, all psyched with HC teamed up together to create a unit to provoke people in their local scene and make them think while trying to promote fun. In the summer of 1995 they started rehearsing and the first show happened on New Year´s Eve 1995/96 in Dąbrowa Górnicza. A year later Sunrise had a 5 song demo tape out called "Fire Walk With Me" (Vegun, 1997) which was warmly welcomed by the crowd. Then, line up problems appeared which would be forever present throughout the band´s existence, but even then it was obvious that they wouldn´t give in so easily. While they were looking for a drummer to fill in, the new songs were written and soon with the help of Raya Nityananda das (ex Agni Hotra) they recorded their debut full length "Generation of Sleepwalkers" (Sanctuary, 1998) which paved a brand new path for the band - way more brutal, combined with in your face lyrics, which painted a kind of bleak picture of the world we live in. The CD got awesome feedback and the new members in the band helped to keep the thing rolling and half a year later new record was done - "Child of Eternity" (Sobermind, 2000). They threw a lot of Swedish metal inspired melody to their style, while lyrics got even more uncompromising, targeting conformism and stagnation. This record got good reviews in many magazines from punk zines to Terrorizer. In 2000 Adam aka Cood, being always a helping hand and silent member and Arek (ex Nowa Droga/Unsilent/Pain Runs Deep) joined Sunrise for good. In 2001 Czaja replaced Arek, first playing bass and then guitar. It was a time of many trips - Polish shows, Euro tours, festivals in Czech, Germany, Belgium and Norway among many. At the peak of this period the band put out a MCD "Still Walking With The Fire" (Youth Culture, 2002), which contained a video to the titled song. In late 2002 Sunrise hit the studio again to record 3 unreleased, yet not that new songs for a split with Belgium monsters Liar under the title "Decontaminate" (Lifeforce, 2003). This release was the closing chapter of a specific period in the history of Sunrise. Soon after that, Sunrise was getting ready to work on a new full length. Having found a home at Lifeforce Records and making some crucial changes in the line up they started work on their long anticipated full length in early winter 2003/2004. During the song writing process they knew that finally they had captured what they love about music - its energy. Still pretty rocky, packed with pounding riffs and catchy sing alongs, the music was harsher and rougher than ever. Then in June/July 2004 they recorded 9 new songs and a cover song under the title of "Traces to Nowhere". The release date is schedule for November 2nd on Lifeforce (Europe/US) and later will be out on Liberation/Lifeforce South America (this version will contain one extra cover song). This year there were also two discography tape titled "Blood Spills Everyday" released in Indonesia (Fallen Angel) and Malaysia (Cactus). Still this year there should be a discography CD called "Sangre derramada cada dia" out in Chile (Survival). Having fun and jamming around was one of the purposes to have this band, but communicating with people and having some kind of message was just as important. Despite the fact that the band consisted of different individuals, there were certain believes which they shared. The lyrics of the new album are focused on the issue of a true rebellion against all we´re supposed to be and simply about the choices we make day by day. It´s not a black and white picture and the band know much more about what´s behind the curtain of the fabulous world we are being lurked with than before they started this thing. Particularly, being against unjustifiable cruelty towards animals - all of the Sunrise members embrace the meat free life style (while most of them are vegans). Sunrise are also opposed to drugs and the majority of them have been sxe for years. They never tried to separate from other people because of what they choose to believe. Over the decade of existence they won people from different crowds. Currently, Sunrise are getting ready for playing as many shows as possible when the new record is out this fall, they are ready to shout out what they believe in and they want to communicate with other people. They want to create an alternative to the promised land we´d never reach. They want people at their shows to share the energy and communicate with each other, getting the motivation to go on. They want you to be a rebel. A rebel with a cause.
