Band:

Gluecifer

BiografieGluecifer is one of the most important things to come out of Norwegian rock and also one of the main reasons not to bow your head in endless shame when you say that your are Norwegian. After the so-called "Golden Age" of No5rwegian music was thru, the early nineties left us with a couple of OK bands, and some grand old men with receding hairlines starting to get horribly irrelevant. From this desert the fiveheaded rockmonster called Gluecifer struck like lightning on a clear day with their now legendary debut single "God´s Chosen Dealer" This happened early 1995, and eight years, several sold-out shows and high-charted records later, Gluecifer are, together with Hellacopters, Turbonegro and The Hives, still spearheading what in the name of rock is a much needed anti-thesis to introvert indie-jerkoffs, mindnumbingly boring shoegazers, whiny men with acoustic guitars, braindead R&B and all the other crap stuff that continues to bother us.

Apart from a bunch of singles on a multitude of labels, Gluecifer´s was signed the credible White Jazz label in Sweden and SubPop in America for their first three albums. Their latest record "Basement Apes" saw the band switch to Epic for the Nordic countries and Germany´s SPV for the rest of the world. This resulted in a unpresented sale in their homecountry, where the record is close to selling gold, and also very nice numbers abroad.

In 1999 the band was in USA for the first time. Two other tours have followed, playing with bands like Murder ity Devils, Nashville Pussy and Motorhead. They have been touring Europe several times, and in Norway they are one of the few bands that pack the big clubs in the big cities.

The intense touring has rightfully earned Gluecifer a reputation as one of the most formidable, authentic and unpretentious acts you can see on stage. I have had some of my greatest and most memorable rock moments with Gluecifer, This is not only because the band is tighter and more talented than other bands than I can compare them with. It is also due to the fact that their singer has a voice, an authority and manipulative skills that matches any great historical statesman. A Gluecifer show might even be the key to understand what rock´n´roll is all about. Like my heroine Poison Ivy from the Cramps says it: "Rock´n´roll is not about saving the world. Rock´n´roll is about fucking whoever you want whereever you want, and not caring who sees it"

- “A world where people like Richard Ashcroft and Thom Yorke is considered stars, and a band like Gluecifer still wander around in pure obscurity, is a world gone fucking mad”

Von den ehemaligen Initiatoren der Szene abgesehen, die schon aus rein biologischen Gründen nicht mehr ewig durchhalten können, gibt es drei Bands aus Skandinavien, die sich den verbliebenen Geist ein
