Band:

Alabama Thunderpussy

BiografieIn Richmond, Virginia, USA, On a dirt floor basement, in 1996, Bryan Cox, Erik Larson and Asechiah Bogdan founded Alabama Thunderpussy. Fueled by a desire to play dirty, kick-ass Rock-N-Roll, they learned to play their instruments and began assaulting the local basement show circuit singerless. Shortly thereafter, Bill Storms joined on bass. The next step was a singer. After several failed attempts to find the right person (1. Diamond Mudguts and 2. Adrienne Droogas) the band found Johhny Throckmorton and by 1997 the line-up was complete. With a full band, A.T.P quickly went into the studio to record their 6-song demo with the purpose of having something to sell at shows. One of these tapes landed in the hands of Frank Kozik (Mr Man´s Ruin Records !). An offer was made to release the demo tape as a CD ep but A.T.P. was already in the habit of constantly writing songs, so in the fall of 1997 the 1st full length ´Rise Again´ was recorded and released by Man´s Ruin in the summer of 1998. In the interim between recording and releasing ´Rise Again´, Bill Storms was asked to leave the band and Sam Krivanec quickly filled the void. Inspired and invigorated by the new line-up, A.T.P. went back into the studio again and recorded ´River City Revival´ prior to the release of ´Rise Again´ and it´s subsequent tour of the Southern States of America. ´River City Revival´ was later released in the winter of 1999. Within a month of that release, A.T.P. was on tour in support of the new album (stopping off in Austin TX to play the Man´s Ruin showcase @ SXSW) A.T.P. headed back into the studio in August of 1999 to record again for Man´s Ruin for a release in Spring 2000 with extensive touring, including the bands first tour of Europe with High On Fire. 28 shows in 29 days with over 50 bottles of whiskey !
Summer 2000 brought the arrival of bass-man Bingo Tuggel,
shortly after the departure of Sam Krivanec.....
And back on the road with a full U.S tour & a tour of the U.K

Y2k also brought splits with Halway To Gone & Orange Goblin and tracks on Aerosmith & Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute comps.

spring 2001 saw another full U.S tour with Suplecs & Dixie Witch.

Then it was time to record our 4th album, this time with legendary producer Billy Anderson, whose past achievements have been working with The Melvins, Sleep, High On Fire, Eye Hate God, Orange Goblin, Lost Goat, Burning Witch & more.....

summer 2001 saw the departure of both Asechiah Bogdan & Bingo Tuggel

..... they were replaced by Ryan Lake on guitar & John Peters on bass

Release of our 4th album took longer due to Man´s Ruin Records cease trading. But Relapse picked up the task and ´Staring At The Divine´ got on the record store shelves in Spring 2002.

Current line-up is :

Erik Larson - rhythm guitar & backing vocals

Bryan Cox - drums

Johnny Throckmorten - lead vocals

Ryan Lake - lead guitar

John Peters - bass guitar

Opie Taylor - runs the store

The goal of this band has been from day one to kick as much ass as is humanly possible and that is what we will continue to devote ourselves to.

Rise Again (Re-Release) - Cover
1998 debütierten die Donnerpussies (herrlicher Name) aus Alabama. Mit eben diesem Album.
River City Revival (Re-Release) - Cover
Nachdem Relapse letztes Jahr das Debüt von ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, das damals auf Man’s Ruin rauskam, wiederveröffentlicht haben, ist jetzt "River City Revival" dran, das Zweitwerk der Amis.
