Biografie1984 - José Venegas & Mat Arani formed the EXCRUCIATION. Soon to be joined by Marcel Bosshart & D.D. Lowinger.


1985 - Eugenio Meccariello joined the band & in april they recorded their first demo-tape ?The Fourth Apocalyptic Rider?, which was never officially released. It still made its way to New York where it got some airplay on college radio stations and was number one on the underground charts for over 2 Months.

Later that year Mat was replaced by Andreas Renggli (ex-Necromancer) and they recorded the ?First Assault?-Demo.



1986 - Re-recorded the ?First Assault?-Tape including new songs. Started playing gigs in switzerland and germany.
Entered the DNS-Studio to produce the ?Last Judgment?-Mini-LP, which was later released by Chainsaw Murder Records & marketed by We Bite Rec.. It sold well over 15´000 copies all over Europe.



José left the band.



1987 - Extensive gigging all over Europe including gigs with Young Gods, Sodom, Messiah, Samael and first headliner shows. Invited to play at the C.B.G.B.



1988 - ?Prophecy of Immortality? was released. It sold 2´500 copies.



1989 - ?Abyss of time? was released. George Hauser joined the band.



1990 - ?Act of Despair? was released.



1991 - ?Anno Domini-An Anthology of the Past?, a collection of their recordings, was released through Turbo International in Europe and through JL America in the USA, which sold over 20000 copies. A new album was planned to be recorded at the Morissound-Studio, Florida.

Due to musical & personal differences Excruciation ceased to exist.



During this time Excruciation played well over 100 gigs all over Europe and considerably changed & influenced the swiss metal-scene.



2005 - Excruciation returns.



Three songs have been recorded at the Blu Velvet Studio, Modena, Italy. Engineered by Alberto Solieri. The songs have been released as a 12" picture disc and as a limited edition CD called "Arise".



The release show, the first gig in 15 years, has been recorded and later released as a limited edition CD called "The Return".



2006 - Entering the Blu Velvet Studio to record the full-length "Angels to Some, Demons to Others". It will be released in three different versions, in jewel case, as a digipack and as a limited edition in slipcase including a 5" vinyl single, through NonStop and distributed by Twilight.
