BiografieAn earnest heartfelt passion in music is something a band cant fake or force. Utilizing this same mindset, Connecticut natives The Distance have tirelessly worked with their do-it-yourself ethic relentlessly, a true sign of an honest hardcore band.

However, The Distance are not from the same mold as typical hardcore acts. Bringing in newer elements from all across the spectrum, including melodic runs, punk angst and catchy rock hooks, The Distance keep their hardcore love close at hand while indulging their creative side for high energy music.

Shortly after forming, the band instantly kept busy by having their self-released demo (recorded at Atomic Studios) officially released on a 7 by Takeover Records. Quickly following this the band signed to Bridge 9 Records and released a six-song EP entitled Your Closest Enemies which was recorded by Zuess (Hatebreed, Throwdown). Immediately after, the music world got a wake-up call when The Distance released a three-way split with Outbreak and Some Kind Of Hate, another 7 dedicated to their cover of Anything, Anything by Dramarama and a split CD with With Honor. Truly the scene reeled from the great output The Distance were generating and coupled their constant touring the band was greatly prolific to say the least. Participating on national tours throughout 2003 and 2004 with the hottest bands hardcore has to offer like Comeback Kid and With Honor, along with appearances on several major festivals, The Distance have wasted no time gaining exposure and spilling their guts to anyone with open ears. Most recently, the band recorded two new songs for a CD on Think Fast! Records that compiles all their vinyl recordings, and are set to hit the road later this month for a tour alongside Most Precious Blood and With Honor all over the U.S.

Come this January the band with enter the studio to record their debut full length with Shep Goodman (Head Automatica, Bayside, Mandy Moore) entitled, The Rise, the Fall, and Everything in Between. Each subsequent release since "Your Closest Enemies" portrays a natural progression, bringing the music to its current sound, says bassist John Dobyns. If "Your Closest Enemies" were to be associated with old school hardcore, the new album would be associated with an anthem punk-rock style. Where as the songs are apparently catchier and more melodic, and some have a more pop/rock feel; they are more aggressive than previous recordings. This release encompasses our abilities as a cohesive band, and our goals stylistically."

The Distance will release their forthcoming debut record on Abacus Recordings late spring/early summer with much touring to follow. "It is wonderful to be working with a label that is as excited about us as we are of them, says Dobyns.
