Band:

Trouble

BiografieTrouble started in 1979 when Eric Wagner, Rick Wartell and
Bruce Franklin decided on forming their own band
to musically walk the paths that were paved by bands
like Black Sabbath and other late ´60s and early
´70s bands.

The band started like any other young band that just wanted to create their own music - playing small gigs in and around their hometown of Chicago, Ill. The sets contained early compositions of their own as well as various cover versions and Trouble grew to become a Chicago-area undergroung attraction.

Trouble were introduced to a wider audience in 1984 with their first appearance on a major album with "The last Judgment", the first Trouble song recorded.

This was included on "Metal massacre Vol. 4", a highly acclaimed sampler-series by Metal Blade Records which dug out lots of talented metal-bands in the early 80s. Any of these Metal Massacre compilations are to this day fine collections of the early ´80s metal movement in the US.

Trouble stayed with Metal Blade Records, who put out the 12" "Assassin" and the first three albums "Psalm 9", "The skull", and "Run to the light". With these albums (soon labelled as "white metal"), they achieved a small but loyal fan-base.

Trouble took off where Black Sabbath had left after their split with Ozzy. Vividly reviving the original doom spirit, Trouble becaming the driving force of the second doom metal movement in the ´80s.

Right away they started influencing other bands of the uprising metal movement of these years. There´s a famous story of James and Kirk from Metallica entering the Trouble-stage after a gig to figure out how their amps were set to get that unique sound.

Three years after "Run to the light", Trouble returned with their album "Trouble" in 1990 on Rick Rubin´s Def American label, who produced this one and the following album "Manic Frustration". Both were enthusiastically received by the press. In 1990 they played at the famous Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven, Holland for the first time. The set introduced songs from the new album, next to classics from their first albums and finished with a cover version of The Beatles´ "Helter Skelter". Trouble appeared at the Dynamo again in 1993 (sunshine) and 1995 (heavy rain), both times not attracting the hugest crowds of the festival but certainly giving their best to people who knew why they loved them. Both sets included cover-versions (they seemed to love playing covers), in 1993 finishing with Black Sabbath´s "Children of the grave" and in 1995 starting out with a cool version of the Iron Butterfly classic "In-a-gadda-da-vida". Eric dedicated the song "Till the end of time" to the Dynamo Open Air. After "Manic frustration", Trouble left Rick Rubin´s Def American label and, being without a record deal for a while, started a small club tour through Germany and Holland with a demo-CD of new songs ("One for the road"). The final album "Plastic green head" appeared in 1995. They disbanded shortly afterwards, cancelling parts of the Plastic Green Head-tour. In the meantime Trouble have played various shows with Kyle Thomas from Exhorder/Floodgate on vocals. Trouble appeared at the Stoner Hands of Doom-festival in Washingon D.C. on Aug. 14, 1999 with Kyle singing, check out the reviews for more info on that. German metal magazine RockHard around that time wrote they´d probably be going to studio to record "Seven", which never happened. Just before the Stoner Hands of Doom festival, organiser Rob Levey wrote at the Stoner Rock Mailing List (R.I.P.): "... anyway we do have some good news I know it is repetitious but Trouble has confirmed that they will play at Phantazmagoria that night and in Rons word this will most likely be their last show. That is sad so the lineup will be Kyle on vocals Bruce and Rick on guitar, Ron on bass and Barry on drums they will be trying to play somthing from all their albums but concentrate on the first album for most of the material that night." Here´s some words by Kyle (Nov. 5, 2000): "Unfortunately I think it´s pretty much over. It truly was an honor to grace their stage with all due respect to Eric Wagner."

A lot has changed since Trouble have announced their return to record a new album some months ago.Quelle: http://www.trouble.de/Discografie1984 - Psalm 9

Reviews

Live In Los Angeles - Cover
Glaubt man der Band das, was im vierseitigen, sehr mageren Booklet steht, soll „Live In Los Angeles“ so etwas wie eine Einführung ihres neuen Frontmanns Kory Clarke sein.
Live In Stockholm - Cover
Wie ihre Kollegen von CANDLEMASS veröffentlichen nun auch die Doom - Götter TROUBLE eine in Stockholm aufgenommene, audiovisuelle Angelegenheit!
Simple Mind Condition - Cover
Ganze elf Jahre haben sich die Chicagoer Doom/Stoner-Götter TROUBLE für ihr neues Werk Zeit gelassen, nachdem die Band seit Ende der 90er von der Bildfläche verschwunden war.
The Distortion Field - Cover
