BiografieAll started in 1995, when brothers Carlos Espejo and Fernando Espejo(both recently arrived from Brazil), Juan Luis Burquez, Fran Muñoz and Piero Dittus met each other at their school. All were Metal fans, so it didn´t take long for them to become friends, and very soon they realized that they had the same musical ideology, so they decided to start rehearsing together. Most members had previous experience in other metal bands, so it wasn´t hard to reach a musical understanding.

The same year (95), they got the chance to play live for the first time in a Rock/metal gig in their own school, and with only a couple of previous rehearsals, the band discovered a special chemistry between them. All members were very satisfied with the show and decided to go on with the band and named it HATE, where they tried to fusion all their musical influences, achieving an aggressive yet melodic sound. After this the band did some live shows where they became more solid as a band and as musicians.

Then in 1998 the band started the recording of their first demo tape "BLACK BLOOD" this included 4 songs "There´s no hope" ; "Black blood" ; "Frustrated minds" ; "Mind strife". This Demo had some good reviews in some metal magazines and radios, and had a good acceptance from the metal fans.
The band was satisfied with the result of this Demo, and keeps working on new songs reaching a new level technically and emotionally in the way they play as in their song writing. In 2001 the band started the recording of their first album, and decided to change their name to Darkemist, two words fusioned (Dark Alchemist), this name reflects in a better way the concept of the band, although the band keeps the same sound and attitude. That´s how they gave life to their first album "MINDSEEK", 11 songs reflecting the band´s chemistry and communication, 11 songs of extreme force and power with a concept about what they live, feel, and think reflected in the lyrics of the album.

After recording the album, the band kept writing and working in new songs, more elaborated and aggressive but keeping the band´s sound and roots. They needed to give their music a deeper sound and more atmosphere, so they called Maria Fernanda Mánquez to play the keyboards, she was an old friend of the band members, her arrival brought a new air to the band in terms of music as in a personal aspect.

After a few months, with Fernanda completely adapted to the band, in early 2003, Fenando Espejo decided to leave the band for personal reasons, so the band starts searching for a new guitar player. After a couple of months and after some auditions, the band included Pablo Ciudad as the new guitar player. Then as a full unit, Darkemist start to play some live shows, with a great reaction from the audience, and feeling really comfortable and confident with this new line-up, just waiting for the final details of the album, and wanting to play live as much as they can, to show all the people the power, strength and understanding that this line up can show on stage.
