Band:

Spearfish

BiografieThe evolution of Spearfish began in an after-hours club in Poland some time in 1990. At that time, bass player and singer Thomas Thulin and guitarist Peter Lundin were in different bands playing on the same tour. The two talented musicians conceived the idea of a new band together and it became the main topic of discussion while returning to their native Sweden.

Spearfish "officially" came to be in 1995, spending most of their premier year together in the studio recording new songs, making demos and defining the unique musical style that is destined to become a well-known trademark. The original setting saw two guitars, Bass and drums.
Besides Thomas and Peter, there was Ola who wrote a some of the songs and played the guitar and Bill who played the drums.

Bill was the first to leave the band after recording their promo CD. He moved to California to study at a "drum academy" there. Ola was the next to leave and for a while Spearfish concisted of Thomas and Peter with a few different drummers sort of gueststarring.

In 1996 they recorded a promotional CD that received high marks in many music magazines. Annika Sundbaum-Melin, music journalist for the biggest newspaper in Swedish circulation wrote: "The singer…makes me think of Geddy Lee in Rush…If someone gives Spearfish a contract I believe they can really make it:" The Promo CD was named "Different Access" and was distributed by Megarock.

The photography for the cover was provided by an old friend of Thulin´s: rock photographer Michael Johansson, whose client list includes the likes of Europe, Ozzy Osborne, Alice Cooper, Ace of Base, Yngwie Malmsteen and many others.

Spearfish is a band that plays classic rock with a strong feeling of the heavier rock groups of the ´70s. The influence of favorite artists such as Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep is evident in the music, but Spearfish manages to entwine their own personal styling into each song, making the listening experience a fresh, unique and yet grittingly familiar venture.

Progressive Metal aus Schweden gehört nicht gerade zum Tagesgeschäft, denn zumeist tummeln sich im hohen Norden eher dunkle, böse und harte Gestalten.
