Band:

Soul Takers

BiografieThe current line-up of Soul Takers saw the light in 2000, mainly created by Francesca (guitars) and Federica (piano) Badalini. The genesis of the band dates further back to the mid-nineties when the two sisters met the classics of heavy metal (Helloween, Savatage ...).

Francesca and Federica (today professional pianists) found in Heavy Metal a natural evolution of Classical Music, far from the academic chains that today entrap it and turn it into an elitist genre. Thus they created a Heavy-Metal cover band and played live in several venues in northern of Italy .

The band got to a turning point when Federica at last decided to give up the guitar and to introduce the piano in all the band´s songs: piano melodies would become the peculiar mark of Soul Takers´s sound.

The line-up of the band begun to stabilize when Mauro arrives. He had been the drummer of several underground bands before (he appears as a session musician in the first Lunae´s promo and in the last Power Symphony´s cd, still unpublished).

In that period Soul Takers obtained good remarks in competitions and played many concerts in important clubs in Milan and its outskirts ( Cross Road , B52...)

At the beginning of 1999 Soul Takers lost their bass player Roberto Orlando and their singer Dino Brentali (for health problems).

The arrival of Andrea gave an end to the the line-up instability because through Andrea Soul Takers met Gianluigi Girardi (vocalist of Winter Mist) who showed interest in the project and joined the band.

With this new line-up, Soul Takers played live several times in Milan ´s most important rock clubs (Rolling Stone, Indian´s Saloon, Scarface...) and in big musical reviews (Rinascita, ex-Palavobis). They recorded their first promo-cd, ?Through the Silence of Words?, in July 2002 at Mezzanima Studios with Lorenzo Caperchi (Bluvertigo, Castronovo, Node...) at the mixer and the partecipation of Laura Stella´cello and Angapiemage Persico (Davide Van De Sfross) on the violin. This work has gained remarkable reviews by the specialized press (magazines and webzines)

It has been broadcast by the radio program ?Demo? on the national channel RadioUno, on Rock FM (one of the most important radios dedicated to rock and metal) and on Radio Gamma 5.

In April 2003 Jari Pilati joined the band as violin player, the sound of Soul Takers becoming richer and more dreamy. Nowadays he plays a fundamental role in this band.

In the first months of 2004 Soul Takers split form their singer Gianluigi Girardi and Dino Brentali, the original singer, who had been working in lyrical projects during his absence, rejoined the band. This reunion brought new life and energy. Soul Takers found again their true way through Dino´s theatrical voice and his help in the composition of new songs.

With this new line-up Soul Takers received positive feedbacks during their shows in the whole Northern part of Italy . They shared the stage with important bands such as Mac Beth, ThunderStorm, Skylark, DGM, Gli Atroci and others.

In summer 2004 they won the ?Inkontest? - a contest organized by Inkubo Cafè in Milan. In the same period they signed a deal with Northwind Records.

In June 2004 Soul Takers (with a smaller line-up) were selected because of their original music played for some extraits of the movie "Il vaso di Pandora" for the International mute movies festival called "Strade del Cinema" held in Aosta; during this festival in August 2004 they presented their original music for the movie "The Caretaker´s Daugher" that was awarded by the judges.

Because of this reward they will appear in a cd with the best musicians of the festival that will be distributed countrywide.

In October 2004 they recorded their debut cd ?Tides? at New Sin Studios (Domine, Labyrinth, Thunderstorm, Beholder) with the partecipation of Laura Stella on the cello and Ilaria ?Banshee?(Anima Naive, The K) on the female vocals.

Thieir first cd ?Tides? will be released in the first months of 2005.

Waiting for the release of Tides Soul Takers recorded the title-track videclip, directed by Paolo Lipari.

In april 2005 the band has participated as guest, thanks to this video, to Database program, of italian tv-channel Rock-TV.
