Band:

Textures

BiografiePromise

By some, Textures is called the promise of the Dutch metalscene. Internationally renowned Metalmagazine Aardschok called Textures "an extraordinary, talented band which has delivered an album of international potency". OOR magazine talked about "the best Dutch metalalbum ever made".

There´s a large scale of words to define the Textures sound: dynamic, progressive, refreshing, aggressive, atmospheric. The use of modern, electronic instruments and uncommon measures isn´t avoided in the least. Influences are gained from dozens of musical genres. Still the complex songs remain accessible to any music lover.

Self-supportive

Textures wants progress without concession. At the end of 2001 the bandmembers built a studio of their own to record the debutalbum Polars. The production, mastering and artwork were left completely in the hands of the band. In the summer of 2003 the promotional version of the 55 minute digipak CD appeared. The reactions were overwhelming without exception.

Polars reflects every aspect of the band. The songstructures, lyrics, musical styles and the personalities within the collective. Polars contains eight tracks which make clear that Textures is larger than the sum of her parts.

Highlights

Immediately after Polars was completed, the promotionmachine was launched. Radio- and magazine-interviews followed. By invitation, Textures was asked to appear as the support act for Sepultura in de Effenaar, Eindhoven. Also, they shared the stage with the Swedish Thrashers of the Crown on two occasions. At the end of November 2003, Textures wrote "winning the Metal Bash contest" to her list of achievements. Not only did they obtain the coveted "Igor"-award, they also played together with praised by all Machinehead.

Due to the increasing demand for gigs and media-attention the band decided to join forces with management- and bookingagency LoudNoise (Green Lizard, the Crown). Shortly After, they joined Listenable Records. Polars will be released in Europe March 8th, 2004 and Worldwide April 26th, 2004.

The bands second album ‘Drawing Circles’ (once again, self produced and self recorded) - to be released April 17th, 2006 via Listenable Records - is a jaw dropping body of work that sees the sextet still frothing with rabid ambition, pushing the envelope of metal and hardcore to its limits; bending and moulding the genres into unexpected new shapes. It is a rare breed of metal/hardcore album where one can find tracks such as ‘Illumination’ - a subtle exploration of Broadway show tinged melody that showcases Eric Kalsbeek’s diverse tonsils – sitting comfortably next to ‘Regenesis’ - a driving, complex mini-epic of thundering guitar work and guttural screams. But then, ‘Drawing Circles’ really is unlike anything else you’re likely to hear this year, this decade, this century – a true original in a time of repetition.

Upping the ante in heaviness and melody, ‘Drawing Circles’ is simultaneously richer and more in your face than ‘Polars’, its ten tracks unrestrained by boundaries, trends or conventions. So what are you waiting for? Perk up your ears, open your mind and prepare to be absorbed, intrigued, and utterly blown away.Quelle: http://www.textures.nlDiscografieTextures Polars CD 2004

Reviews

Drawing Circles - Cover
