Shadows Fall

BiografieRe-launching an album with bonus-material and new artwork might be a very common, even though not exactly popular move in the music-biz. Still Century Media Records decided to take that chance, upgrading the already existing Of One Blood album with the Japan-only EP, Deadworld, to form Fear Will Drag You Down and spread the word about SHADOWS FALL - simply because we believe so much in the band. Part of that reality meant admitting that the label had not forced enough people to notice of the quality of Of One Blood when it was originally released in Summer, 2000. Things are looking far different for them in their home-territory USA where they did not only rock the house live on an endless string of tours in both the US and Japan, but also managed to gain massive media- and radio-attention. The offer to support Kittie on their forthcoming European tour was reason for us enough to give it another shot in Europe.

Massachusetts´ SHADOWS FALL bring together the best things that metal has ever had to offer as well as delivering their songs in a way that only a few bands ever have: For each vocal growl there is also a note that is sung in key, and each fast guitar riff has a note structure that broadens it into something more special. Of One Blood is an album that knows no boundaries. Boasting a Euro-influenced style of aggro-death metal with a pair of exceptionally talented (and disarmingly young) guitarists, SHADOWS FALL became very visible opening throughout the northeast for Fear Factory, Staind, Cannibal Corpse, Hatebreed and many other renowned acts. What sets SHADOWS FALL apart from other bands is that they excel and are accepted in the metal, hardcore and noise scenes, which is reflected by the numerous and different styles of bands that they regularly share the stage with.

After a self-released album in 1997 and performances at the World Series Of Metal and Milwaukee Metalfest, the band felt it was time to make a change. SHADOWS FALL brought in ex-Overcast vocalist Brian Fair in the Autumn of 1998. With Fair´s dual-vocal delivery melded with guitarists Jonathan Donais´ and Matthew Bachand´s backing vocals, SHADOWS FALL began writing in a more progressive style that better utilized their incredible playing and their original three-man vocal delivery. SHADOWS FALL signed a worldwide deal with Century Media in late 1999 and there have only been a few albums that match as much heaviness with equal melody as found on Of One Blood. Produced by the band with engineer Zeuss at Planet-Z, Of One Blood boasts very warm and distinctive tones to complement the tight playing and original creativity of the band.

Right after the release of Of One Blood they headed for numerous national and regional tours with the likes of In Flames and Nevermore; The Misfits and Dillinger Escape Plan; King Diamond; Glassjaw and Downingman; Amen and Candiria, just to mention a few. In August 2001 they appeared at "The Beast Fest" in Yokohama, Japan along with Pantera, Slayer, Machine Head, Static-X, Sepultura, Biohazard, Kittie and Morbid Angel. Needless to say people simply raved about the stunning live-qualities of this exceptional five-piece wherever they went. Right as you hold this info in your hands they´ll be on the road in New England with their close friends from Hatebreed and hardcore-visionaries Converge, just before they take a short break to prepare for their first European tour supporting Kittie.

With each successive tour the band have completed thus far, they have managed to move further out of the underground in the US. They have spent 2000 and 2001 conquering several genres: hardcore, every kind of metal including new metal and punk, befriending both domestic and international bands in the process. Now it´s high time for Europe...
