Band:

Mass Extinction

BiografieSince their formation back in 2003, the Irish quintet have steadily earned their reputation as the top thrash act in Ireland with incendiary gigs fuelled by explosive old school thrash metal, coupled with a stage performance that would put many of their global contemporaries to shame. The four track demo of 2005 simply titled ‘DBAT’ showcased the band at their very best and along the way helped build a massive worldwide fanbase for the band.
Their rise has not gone unnoticed. Gary Holt of the legendary Exodus cites himself as a big fan. So it was hardly surprising that when Exodus played Dublin, they asked Mass Extinction to join them as special guests. Mr Holt even donned a Mass Extinction shirt for his set. And that’s just one of some of the big names Mass Extinction have shared a stage with over the last couple of years. Nuclear Assault, Sodom, Destruction and Onslaught have all had the unenviable task of following a Mass Extinction set.
More recently the band were asked to appear on ‘Thrash ‘n’ Burn’, a compilation showcasing some of the biggest names in Irish metal paying homage to their thrash heroes. Mass Extinction chose to record a rendition of ‘Kill On Command’ by seminal Bay Area thrash legends, Vio-lence. The result is a slab of the purest thrash metal that rivals the original for unrelenting viciousness.
After a successful min-tour of the UK in 2006, Mass Extinction’s appeal has continued to grow in 2007 with bigger gigs, even bigger songs and their first foray into Europe at the Ways of Darkness festival in Germany, the undisputed home of metal. The band also headlined Ireland’s Whiplash festival during August.
You can catch Mass Extinction when they headline the Voodoo in Dublin on the 9th February with Overoth, Raging Conflict and Valediction and experience first hand what everyone else is talking about. Join us to celebrate a new generation of thrash with the next kings of the genre, the lords of DBAT – Mass Extinction.

Creation Undying - Cover
Thrash Metal war sicherlich mal irgendwie geradezu kolonialistisch, sendungsidealistisch geprägt – aus Deutschland und den USA kamen die Bands und brachten ihre Überzeugung in die gesamte Welt.
