Biografie1994 Interstate Blues is formed in Glendale California by Jamie Purpora (guitar, vocals), Jeremy Crowther (drums) and Roger Brown (bass). Interstate Blues
1995 They play several shows in the L.A. area and record several demos.
1996 “Let It Go” is recorded in March and released in August. Hammond player Erik Sabo joins the band. They play several shows at B.B. Kings, The Universal Bar And Grill and The Now Voyager.
1997 “Interstate Blues” is recorded in March and released in August. Several shows follow at The Now Voyager, The Blue Saloon, The Riverbottom and B.B. Kings.
1998 “Velvet” is recorded and released in August. Several shows follow at Pat’s, The Riverbottom and The Blue Saloon. Jamie Purpora plays at the Chicago Blues Festival and is joined on stage by Koko Taylor.
1999 Jamie Purpora has several writing sessions with Fontaine Brown resulting in several cuts off of the CD “Southern Lips”. Roger Brown leaves the band and is replaced by (Religious) Ray Magdaleno. The song “Velvet” is featured in the TV show “Pensacola Wings Of Gold”. Jamie Purpora plays the Chicago Blues Festival and is joined on stage by Bo Diddley.
2000 “Southern Lips” is recorded in March and released in August. Ray Magdelano quits the band and is replaced by Roger Brown. Several shows follow at B.B. Kings, Paladino’s and the Blue Saloon. Jamie Purpora plays the Chicago Blues Festival.
2001 Erik Sabo leaves the band. They go on as a power trio. They play over a dozen dates in L.A. including The Blue Saloon, B.B. Kings and Pat’s.
2002 Several shows at the Blue Saloon and opening slots for Doyle Bramhall II (formerly of Arc Angels) and Marc Ford (formerly of The Black Crows) at the 1650 Club in Hollywood. “White Lightning” is recorded in November.
2003 “White Lightning” is released in April. The Interstate Blues version of the Willie Dixon/Buddy Guy classic “I Got My Eyes On You” is featured in the WB TV Show Angel and is also released on DVD the next year. Jamie Purpora plays the Chicago Blues Festival with Billy Branch, Shirli Dixon and Koko Taylor. Jamie Purpora begins writing for the next release “El Diablo”.
2004 Interstate Blues play a limited amount of shows at The Gig and Paladino’s. They begin rehearsal’s for their next release “El Diablo”. Jamie Purpora joins the side project “Vanishing Point” with John Getty, Greg Bissonette and Matt Bissonette (formerly of David Lee Roth’s band). The sessions take place in September but no release date has been set.
2005 “El Diablo” is recorded in February and March. Mixing is done in April and May. “El Diablo” released in June 2005!
