BiografieSome years ago in the city of Blumenau - SC - Brazil, the guitar player Alessandro Kotlinsky and the bass player Marcos R. Cardoso established a proposal of creating a special identity which could represent, in a faithful manner, all the ideology and creativity existing in their minds. But it was necessary to find other elements to make it perfect, because they needed to feed and share all this concept with more people who had the same ideology, yet the objective was clear, of shaping a progressive band (both are fanatics for erudition of music and the heaviness of metal), enriched with melodic and rhythmic elements. So they started a reckless search, yet the region where they live wasn´t (and it is not yet even nowadays) much backed to musical arts. The first one to join the band was Júlio César K. Kuhlewein, an unquestionable skilled drummer. After a test with Alessandro and Marcos playing ´Pull me Under´ (Dream Theater) and ´Perfect Strangers´ (Deep Purple), there was an explosive chain reaction amongst the threesome, perfect synchrony on improvisation, embodying Alessandro´s versatile solos and Marcos´ competent punch. It was clear that one of the elements had been found. The band then rehearsed a lot as a trio, finding soon the singer Rafael Pacheco (an aggressive voice´s owner) and the mighty keyboard player Juliano Scharf Scharf, who already released a demo tape titled ´Seven Deadly Sins´ (of melodic death style) much praised at ´Fúria Metal´, an old Brazilian MTV program dedicated to heavy music. Juliano faced his acceptance with much joy, soon becoming part of the identity, taking part of the compositions and contributing with his own music. The only one who was hardly fitting in was Rafael, because his musical taste was different from the rest of the band. After a talk with the whole band, Rafael left. The rehearsals kept going on even without a singer, as the band was really raving with the music, where Alessandro and Juliano became the main writers always getting the complement of Marcos´ great bass lines and Júlio´s killer and diversified rhythms. Several tests with many other singers were done, but time ran and no one could show enough capacity to join the identity. It led to a big unloving behavior, mainly showed by Júlio who was used to perform shows and was missing the opportunity to show his talent to the audience. Later then, Júlio dropped the bomb: He left the band. The identity was threatened, but the remaining members knew of the identity´s great potential. They decided to continue, and after another long and hard search, they found a boy (at that time) with a great potential: Jaison Peixer. An owner of a distinct voice with a high pitch, Jaison accepted the invitation asap, and things began to work again. Júlio was contacted once more and showed a big interest in returning to the band. In a few days, the identity was complete. The band didn´t lose time, rehearsed their compositions and entered in studio to record their first CD.



In January 2001, the CD was released. From that time on, everything started to work fine. The CD was being accepted very well, and soon in March the band made the debut´s release show at Cervejaria Continental in Blumenau to more than 400 people, who sang along the music. In half the year the band decided to contact some record companies and distribution labels. Soon they received several invitations, but Hellion´s was the most interesting, which could distribute the CD in Brazil and Europe. It was accepted right away. Then the band kept on performing shows around Blumenau, went to Porto Alegre - RS to be the main attraction at Garagem Hermética. The CD had several reviews published in many magazines and sites, always being praised by their originality, creativity and always receiving high remarks.



In october of 2002, the bass player Marcos R. Cardoso left the band due to personal reasons. It was a really big loss to the band, a great friend and amazing musician decided to follow a diferent way. To complete the identity, the bass player Ricardo Tomedi was invited, accepting the rank in the same time. Ricardo is one of the best friends of the guitar player Alessandro, and was the bass player of the progressive rock band Odd Search.



Before Eden is a name which is growing up at the Worldwide Prog Metal scene, having their CD distributed in Brazil and Europe. Time after time the band is paying attention to a meaningful growing of fans from all around the world. The band is now recording the new album to be released in the end of the year(2004). From now on, only time will tell if the band was really born to be established in the Prog Metal Scene.
