Band:

Torman Maxt

BiografieThe progressive metal band Torman Maxt has always been three brothers: Tony Massaro, Vincent Massaro & Dominic Massaro. Originally hailing from Ft Meyers, Florida the trio made the cross country move to Los Angeles, California where they recorded several demos before meeting vocalist Martin DeBourge. After recording and releasing their debut album titled Just Talking About the Universe... So Far, torman maxt performed extensively at the local Hollywood clubs and throughout Southern California. The band´s sound has been compared to progressive rock greats like Rush, Dream Theater, Queensryche & Yes while still reminding prog rock fans of earlier recording artists like Uriah Heep, Gentle Giant, King Crimson & Jon Anderson solo work. The second disc called The Foolishness of God found Tony Massaro handling all the vocals now and band direction that will remind the listener of progressive metal bands like Porcupine Tree, Kings X, Galactic Cowboys, Atomic Opera & Coheed & Cambria as well as the classic rock flare one has become accustomed to when listening to torman maxt - bands like Kansas, If, Triumph, Zebra & Ozzy Osbourne.

The newest album titled The Problem of Pain, Part 1 is a concept album based on the book of Job and gleaning from the C.S. Lewis book of the same title. Already met with rave reviews, TheProgFiles.com has said ...not since Rush 2112 has there been a concept album of this caliber. The musical direction for this album, while remaining heavy metal in nature, will surely interest fans of bands like Symphony X, Marillion, Camel, Opeth, DragonForce, Mudvayne, System of a Down & Led Zepplin. Torman Maxt has always had a deep admiration for the progressive music pioneers that have gone on before them, like Robert Fripp, Frank Zappa, Fairport Convention, Giles Giles & Fripp and Fire Ballet. While that particular brand of prog isn´t immediately evident in the compositions, their influence is there nonetheless.

Vinny Massaro on drums: A very unique drummer who can´t be easily nailed down to "sounds like" so and so. At this point Vincent names his favorites as influences: Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, John Bonam, Michael Giles, Bill Bruford, Carl Palmer, Nick mason, Alan White, Ian Paice, Mark Zonder, John Weathers, Keith Moon, Terry Bozzio, Ginger Baker, Carmine Appice, Jeff Porcaro, Bill Ward, Nicko McBrain, Mike Giles, Mike Shrieve, Cozy Powell, Clive Bunker, Ringo Starr, John Dalmayan, Scott Rockenfield, Dave Grohl, Phil Ehart, Mick Fleetwood & Roger Taylor.

Dom Massaro on bass: Achieving an original approach to hard rock bass playing is attributed to Dominic´s admiration of all the great bassists like Geddy Lee, Greg Lake, John Wetton, Chris Squire, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, Mariusz Duda, John Entwistle, Jack Bruce, Tony Levin, Flea, Les Claypool, Geezer Butler, Nathan East, John Paul johns, Steve Harris, John Myung, Roger Clover, Phil Lynott, Bill Wyman, Billy Shehann, Felix Pappalardi & Doug Pinnick.

Tony Massaro as a vocalist: Nobody sounds like him, and he certainly isn´t the imitation of any other rock vocalist, but you can hear remnants of the singers he has enjoyed listening to - Robert Plant, Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, Freddy Mercury, Rob Halford, Mike Patton, Lou Gramm, Bruce Dickinson, Chris Cornell, Steve Walsh, Ian Gillan, Dennis DeYoung, David Coverdale, Eddie Vedder, Bono & Jeff Scott Soto

Tony Massaro on guitar: Influenced by the greats - Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Page, John Lennon, Alex Lifeson, Ty Tabor, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, David Gilmour, Paul Gilbert, Phil Keaggy, Steve Howe, Gary Moore, Steve Morse, Tony Iommi, Uli John Roth, Peter Green, George Harrison, Andrian Belew, Chris DeGarmo, Glen Tipton, K K Downing, Michael Romeo, Scott Gorham, Vivan Campbell, George Lynch, Kerry King, Slash, Mick Box, Dave Mustaine, Rik Emmit, Andy Powell, Daron Malakian & James Hetfield.

So if you are a fan of Classical Formalism, Impressionism, Surrealism, Postmodern or Art Rock - you will certainly find elements pleasant to the ears. Torman Maxt is proud of their classic metal roots like Black Sabbath, MC5 & Samson... but gladly seize the opportunity to let prog influences shine through - like those heard from Kraut Rock specialists Amon Duul, Xhol & Faust. Neo Progressive Music is no stranger to the tmaxt style too - like Pendragon & Aragon. Space Rock can be heard ala Hawkwind. However, the Classic Progressive movement is alive in well with the maxt, harkening to bands like The Nice & ELP.Quelle: http://www.tormanmaxt.com/about.htmlDiscografieJust Talking About The Universe...
