Cripple Bastards
?During the first wave of European Hardcore, Italy spewed out more than its fair share of amazing bands. Italian Hardcore was renowned for its speed, violence and even heaviness (which once upon a time was truly rare in HC). Today CRIPPLE BASTARDS may be the band that most reflects an evolutionary step forward in italian extreme Hardcore by their combining a classic vibe with neo-Grindcore/Violence. CRIPPLE BASTARDS starts in Asti, north-west of Italy, March 1988 as a consolidation of the friendship and common passion for extreme violence between Giulio the Bastard and Alberto the Crippler, both coming from local Thrash/Punk projects that didn?t match their tastes too well. The aim of these two young noise-makers was to give a continuation to the identity of italian HC that few years before had reached legendary steps with acts like CCM, NEGAZIONE, RAW POWER, WRETCHED etc? but that was gradually fading away due to the slowing down or even splitting up of those who had started it all. Trying to capture the aggressivity and rawness of early italian Thrash/HC and combining it with the extremism of the ?new? Grind generation coming from England and USA, C.B. built their own solid style that changed and progressed a lot over the years becoming a real source of inspiration for tons of modern Grind/Thrash outfits. From the early 2 piece line-up with GTB on drums/vocals and ATC on guitar, the band goes thru tons of line-up changes even including a bass-player from Belo Horizonte/Brazil and members from the most recognized italo-HC outfits of the ?90s. After 5 successful demotapes that came out in the ?88-?93 era, CB start to get a good notoriety everywhere and release records on different underground labels all around the globe. Their current discography features more than 20 singles/7? and a huge number of CD/LP/10? and so on. The most important and successful ones have certainly been the first album ?Your lies in check? (Ecocentric Records/E.U.?91, 1996), the second and most recent ?Misantropo a senso unico? (Deaf American/Peculio Discos/E.U.?91, 2000) and two anthological CD?s including almost all the singles they put out ?93 to ?99, one released by Grand Theft Audio/USA and one by Obscene Productions/Czech Republic. CRIPPLE BASTARDS are hitting the road since over 12 years: after many local appearances they did their first show abroad in 1992 headlining a HC festival in Croatia. In the years they played all around in Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, most areas of ex Yugoslavia and so on..) also taking part to popular extreme metal events like Fuck The Commerce in Germany and 4 editions of the Obscene Extreme fest. They also toured/shared shows with legendary HC acts like RATOS DE PORAO, EXTREME NOISE TERROR, NAPALM DEATH, NASUM, VARUKERS, CHAOS UK, DOOM, DROPDEAD, FEAR OF GOD, PHOBIA, HELLNATION, FINAL CONFLICT, AGATHOCLES, DENAK, YACOPSAE, HAEMORRHAGE, REGURGITATE + tons more. In May 2002 they flied to the USA/East Coast for the first tour oversea, headlining at NYC?s ?CBGB? + destroying stages on towns like Boston, Providence, Philadelphia etc. with STRONG INTENTION, DISASSOCIATE, SUPPRESSION, TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION and other ultrafast thrash monsters. One year later the band striked over the US/West Coast for a tour with PHOBIA, shows goin´ thru California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and finally, Mexico. Today?s CRIPPLE BASTARDS is a savage amalgamation of modern Grindcore, most powerful ol?school Hatecore and a solid metallic feel coming from their ?80s Thrash experience.

This line-up is keeping unite and strong since years and getting day by day more tight + powerful. The former member Giulio the Bastard has been also singing in ex Jugoslavia?s Grindcore legend PATARENI (since 1983!) that recently reformed doing new trax and even talking about some possible live appearance. CRIPPLE BASTARDS recently put out their 3rd full lenght album ?Desperately insensitive?, produced at Nadir Studios by Tommy Talamanca, guitarist of Italy?s metal ace SADIST. The album features 19 tracks of frantic, non-stop fast Grind/Hate violence running at the speed of light thru different styles/influences thanks to the incredibly savage drumming section, the corrosive wall of hate made by guitar and bass, and the ultra-varied screaming parade of GTB, going from deep growls to flesh-ripping hightuned screams to rageful HC bursts. ?Desperately insensitive? was first released by Necropolis Records/USA (who official European marketing was handled by Century Media) and later re-issued on vinyl by Deep Six (gatefold LP) and Massacro Records (picture LP). So far as Necropolis completely disappeared from the scene and quit its contacts with CB, the album was later re-released on CD by Peculio Discos for the south American marketing, and further editions will follow. All in all there?s over 7000 copies of it around, making it the absolute CB best-seller.
