BiografieRhythmically aggressive and melodically surprising, vonFrickle is unlike any band you have ever heard before!



A musical exploration, combining odd time signatures and bizarre tones ranging from ambient space jams to experimental rock to atonal noise riffs, this quartet can quickly turn quirky complicated riffs into haunting melodic grooves, leaving the listener wondering what´s coming next.



The band´s long-awaited follow-up to 2003´s critically acclaimed Mission 4.9 (re-released nationally on o.i.e. Records in 2005), entitled Arrhythmia, is their 8th album overall and the 3rd release on o.i.e. It features nine all-new original compositions from this utterly unique combo from the cornfields of Illinois.



Conceived as a fully functional instrumental band that would never play backup to a lead vocalist (and named after great, great uncle, Baron Fredrick vonFrickle), the quartet - LEE FEHR (guitar/guitar synth); JOHN GANSER (drums, percussion and synths); DAN MEYER (bass guitar and synths); KEN THORNTON (guitar/guitar synth) - is free to try anything musically: spasmodic leads, odd rhythms, textured polyphonic vibrations, electronic noise, atmospheric crude and of course beautiful melodies, all blending together to make truly unique music.



Musical comparisons match the band´s influences, including King Crimson, early Pink Floyd, 1970´s Miles Davis, the Residents and Frank Zappa. Often referred to by fans as ultra-novel science fiction music, there is an oddity in the music that fits well with those of odd taste!



A tour in support of the new album is planned for late Summer/early Fall, including the band´s confirmed October ´06 appearance at the Prog in the Park Festival in Rochester, NY, also featuring legendary Yes guitarist Steve Howe.
