Band:

Endstand

BiografieENDSTAND has built a strong reputation around punk/hardcore scenes areound the world. The band is best known in Europe, thanks to seven European tours made so far and there´s more to come. Here´s a fine example of the band who´ve slowly but surely gained a wide scale following with hard work and dedication. With around 350 shows done, of which over half are outside of their home country, Endstand has become one of the better known and highly respected band in underground.

The story of the band started in early 96 when four smalltown guys got fed up being unemployed and having nothing to do. The guys (Mika - guitar, Joel - bass, Jani - drums & Janne - vocals) rehearsed almost every day getting their act together very soon and after being together six months they did their first shows and have been playing all around Europe ever since. Endstand´s energetic live shows are what they´re best known, you shouldn´t miss them when they come around...

The recording career started with a demo tape "Fear of Future" recorded fall ´96 at friend´s basement with horrible sound and not so good songs either. Luckily only 100 or so tapes were made, so the band won´;t have to face the embarrassment of facing the people owning the demo that often. Late ´96 the guys hit the studio again to record the split 7" with friends from Sweden, Outlast. That release was delayed so much that band´s own 7" "Tolerance" came out before the split, in early summer ´97. The Outlast split came out just before Endstand´s first visit to mainland Europe, a week and half lasting tour to Belgium, Germany and Denmark. That small tour got lots of new friends and contacts for the band meaning busy future. Late ´97 the first CD-release was recorded and released early ´98 by Impression Recordings from Germany, followed with a splitCD with Finnish melo-punkers Aurinkokerho in ´99. In Summer ´99 it was time to record the first full length called "To Whom It May Concern". All of beforementioned releases, except for the Aurinkokerho split are sold out by now and aren´t likely to be released again. The next visit to studio was made in Summer 2000 and the result was a picture disc 7" on Janne´s newly formed label Combat Rock Industry. After the release of the EP it was time to hit the road once again and face the first line-up change:

When the original drummer quit the band after the tour in late 2000 their longtime friend & driver Henkka joined the group bringing lots of new energy and ideas to the band. Without Henkka coming and joining the band the story of Endstand would probably have been over. Thanks to him the story continues...

First recording with a new drummer was "Fire Inside" 10"/CD released on vocalist Janne´s own label Combat Rock Industry in summer 2001 has gotten extremely positive and enthusiastic response. You could say Fire Inside was the first recording capturing the band´s energy and intensity from the live shows on record too. That record opened up a lot of new doors for Endstand and woke up an interest of several labels who wanted to release their material in future. The label the band decided to work with was Day After and the guys started to work on new material in late 2001.

At that time there was an addition made to the line-up too; Jani (not the same Jani who played drums in the beginning..) joined the band as a second guitarist adding some heaviness and melody to Endstand´s sound. In early 2002 The band spent most of the weekends at their rehearsal room making new songs work the best possible way. In April-May it was time to hit the roads of Europe once again. The tour lasted for one month and the guys played the new songs every night to get them as tight as possible.

Soon after getting back from the tour it was time to hit the studio. New album "Never Fall Into Silence" was recorded and mixed in six days. Even though everything was done that fast, the sound is still very powerful, not losing the intense spirit of the band. Everyone in the band are very confident about this recording and believe in it with their full hearts.

The best way to promote the new album is to tour, so another tour was booked - someone got crazy idea to hit every possible country in Europe meaning the tour would have to last over two months. So be it, late summer Endstand packed their van once again and hit the road. First was eastern Europe, including countries like Bosnia, Serbia, Yugoslavia and Macedonia -countries that most of us have heard of only because of military actions made over there. No problems were faced anyway, if you don´t count few tickets given by cops for whatever reasons. Traveling through the Eastern Europe was very eye opening experience that was worth making due all the possible risks on the way. In overall the tour went very well with very little problems. Band´s van lasted the whole damn tour without even a single tire breakdown! After getting back from the 9 week tour Endstand took it quite easy for a few months, just rehearsing a bit and playing some shows and making plans for the future. The future plans include some gigging in summer 2003, recording a new EP to be released on Combat Rock Industry in fall ´03 just before the tour with dear friends Manifesto Jukebox. There´s no end in sight!
