KEINE BIO!Underdog“The Void” was born in 1998 by initiative of Sanathis (keyboards) and Demon (voice and guitars). The actual line-up, whose middle age is 22, appeared only at the end of 1999, with the entrance in the band of the bass player Barniak, a little after the drum player Dimash’s. The feeling is almost immediate, so that the progresses, both at a technical level and at a melodic one, are noticeable and rapid.

It is difficult to talk about gothic, dark or generic metal. Doubtless, dark and melancholic atmospheres go through the music played by “The Void”, but it is also characterised by aggressive and carrying moments and by harmonies which are not familiar to heavy metal (and dark in general).

“The Void” start to play live in 2000. Finally, after two years of co-operation, the five members have the opportunity of recording their first demo-CD . Moreover, the band takes part to competitions, always finishing with the leaders, even when there are several opponents.
At the beginning of 2002 there is the break with the guitar player Iron and the band proceeds with four members. Meanwhile, live shows go on and they obtain more and more success among criticism (for example, they impresses various players, the experimental black metal band Revenant, Black Widow). In January 2002, Paul Chain comes back to Genoa; “The Void” themselves open his show.
Between March and April 2002 the second demo-CD, “Her Obscure Heart”, is recorded. Its songs (Morrigan, Nyx, Neman) follow the basis already set by “The Void”, even if a definitely sad and melancholic atmosphere often prevails on obscure tones.

The same atmosphere and nihilistic sadness go through the new songs, “Tears” and “Slave”, which open a new Demon; this work is like a break of reflection for “The Void”. The guys has grown up and changed, also thank to new live experiences (such as the show at Transilvania Live in Genova, in November 2002). That means that also the music has changed, losing a little dark atmosphere and becoming more and more sad melancholic. The sadness of “The Void” give no-chances to act and react, destroy the ego in limbo made of rage and sorrow. This is the sum of “Farewell”, a new work composed by the two new songs, two re-arranged and re-recorded songs from the first demo-CD (because they changed), “Her Obscure Heart” demo-CD and by “Sad Joke”, the last song of the first demo-CD.

By having recorded this short compilation, “The Void” mean to reflect on their past and to give a complete vision of what they created and how their music developed. www
