BiografieShiva was formed in 2001 by Mats Edström and Anette Johansson. Mats, who is the guitarist, songwriter and producer of the band and Anette, who does the lead and background vocals and is also the co-producer, recorded their first album, simply called ´Shiva´ with the help of a few guest musicians. The album was released in 2002 and got great reviews both in Europe and Japan.



Their second album, called ´Desert Dreams´ was recorded in the same way as their debut and was released in 2004. The album was a bit heavier than their debut, but that didn´t stop the album from getting great reviews again.



Now Shiva´s third album, called ´The Curse Of The Gift´ has seen the light of day. On this concept album Shiva has evolved into a real band. Mats Ottosson (guitars), Mattias Höijer (bass), Mikael Malmborg (drums) already played their parts on the first two Shiva albums, while Niclas Olson (keyboards) gives a wider dimension to Shiva´s sound.



Some would describe our music as Melodic Progressive Rock / Metal but we simply describe it as modern Melodic Hard Rock.
The songs vary from from ballads to dark heavy rock in which the lyrics play quite an important role.



´The Curse Of The Gift´ has been written over the past two years. As was the case with the first two albums we had complete creative freedom again and therefore no compromises were made whatsoever. We think we´ve taken the sound of Shiva one step further once again and while some of the new songs may take some more time to get used to, we only think that the progression of the band is a natural one, which will enable us to reach a new audience while keeping the old fans happy as well...
