BiografieThe name Costa’s Cake House, originating in a visit to the greek island korfu, stands for more than just nice holiday memories. We have the feeling that in the Hardcore scene nowadays there are so many bands with superficial, evil sounding names around, which only serve the purpose to fit easy in a category. That’s nothing we want. We want to confront people with a name, music and lyrics not so easy to categorize. We want you to scratch the surface and not to lean back. This is what our understanding of hardcore is about, to look closer and not only see the surface. Costa’s Cake House is in existence since the beginning of 1998. We started as an power violence band with some screamo influences. Since back then we went through two line up changes. Steve, our original guitar player was replaced by Matthias and in the beginnig of 2k we added Arnaud as a second bassplayer to the band, which made our sound more intense and brutal.
During this time our music developped and changed. It became more metal orientated and more technical. In our sound there are now elements of hardcore,death metal,grindcore and emo combined, but we still manage to keep our own sound and identity. Our lyrics have mostly a personal background, but still deal with socio-political aspects and problems of our lives. It’s all written from a personal point of view. We also deal with personal experiences and situations in our lives, basicly everything which has an impact on us as individuals, be it love,frustration or political and social developments. We express our thoughts about being a part of this world. About hating all the stupidity that is gathered around us. We kind of try to break free and feel better.
The main concept behind the band is friendship. Somehow we realized, that many people lose themselves after being out of school and going all in different directions, like out of sight out of mind, you know. And then they come together and talk about some shallow stuff and everything is different. We communicate pretty much and still exchange thoughts. We think communication is the most important word for the HC scene.
So far we played over 150 shows, have been on tour 6 times whith shows in luxembourg, italy, slovenja, austria, switzerland, france, belgium, denmark, hungary, czech republic, croatia, slovakia and of course germoney.
