Band:

Platitude

BiografieTHE EARLY DAYS:

Originally formed back in 1995 and with a more or less permanent line-up since 1997, Platitude have up until the release of their debut album been a "secret" within the music business ... something that has now changed.

The band have released three demos (plus a live-demo), so far only sold through the band´s homepage and at various concerts, however these demo´s have attracted the interested of many people in the Scandinavian scene. In the summer of 2001 Platitude hooked up with Danish based metal-agency Intromental Management for the promotion of the band.

SECRETS OF LIFE:

In the spring of 2002 Platitude secured themselves a record deal with the Italian label Scarlet Records, and the debut album was recorded in the beginning of August ´02 together with producer Tommy Hansen at the famous Jailhouse Studios (Helloween, Pretty Maids, Beyond Twilight, etc.) in Denmark.

The album was released in February 2003 in Japan and a month later around the rest of the World, and in the following months the reviews from all across the worldwide metal scene came rushing in. Many of the reviews claimed that Platitude was the next shining star on the European metal sky, and who are we to argue? :-)

Following the great response from the media, it was now time to face the fans, and in May 2003, Platitude embarked on a small European tour with Danish power metal band, and label/management-mates, Manticora. Since the band had kicked out keyboardist Tommie after the release of the album, new keyboardist Kristofer "Wachen" Von Wachenfeldt joined the band. The tour took the band to Holland, Germany, France and Denmark. Shortly after returning to Sweden, the band once more had the chance to go out on tour, this time with UK´s premiere progressive metal band, Threshold, for 2 gigs in Germany. The European tour ended for Platitude with a successful gig at Sweden Rock Festival in June 2003.

Now that the band have been so active with touring, it´s time to start concentrating on the next album, and that is exactly what Platitude will be doing. The studio (once again Tommy Hansen´s Jailhouse Studios in Denmark) has been booked for November 2003, and we are very confident that with the second output ready in early 2004, the extremely commercial and accessible, yet interesting and semi-progressive metal of Platitude will find a lot of fans out there.

NINE:

In fall 2003 the band once more entered Tommy Hansen´s Jailhouse Studios, and recorded the fantastic album "Nine", for which we´re now completing the artwork (Mattias Norén at www.progart.com is working on it), and we´re expecting a release in early 2004.

After the release of "Nine" Platitude received lots of media praise, especially in Europe the media seemed to like the fact that the band had opted for a more mature songwriting style. Lots of interviews were done and everything seemed to be going well for the band. However, it was also obvious to the band that they needed to stay focused and move forward, so they changed drummer Markus with a new drummer, 16 year old Andreas Brobjer in the summer of 2004.

MUSIC:

Undoubtedly Swedish metal-hero´s such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Europe and Majestic have influenced the sound of Platitude - but also the more progressive edged bands such as Symphony X have had their say in how Platitude of today sounds like.

But you can´t just limit this fantastic band to one genre - this is neo-classical metal solos, progressive rhythms and a true heavy metal atmosphere ... but it is also so much more. Here you have the fantastic melodies, the beautiful songwriting, the great playing skills and a perfect sense for powerful heavy metal tunes.

With the use of two keyboardists, Andreas (and on the debutalbum Tommie as well) and Kristofer "Wachen" Von Wachenfeldt, the sound of Platitude differs a lot from what is usually expected within this style of music.

A "typical" neo-classical metal band have the guitar/keyboard chases as main-focus point, so why not double them both? Well, that is exactly what Platitude is doing and with two guitarists and two keyboadists, Platitude offers something new and exciting to the metal scene. The rhythm section of Platitude is awesome ... a drummer and a bassist with the complete understanding of technique and variation - a backbone for the whole band to lean onto, and a superb backdrop for the music of Platitude.

And as if that was not enough, Platitude have one of the most promising young vocal-talents on display - Erik "EZ" is the incarnation of a real powerhouse vocalist, with an incredible range and a perfect feel for the melody. To compare him with giants like Toni Martin and Ronnie J Dio is not that far off.
