MORMÂNT DE SNAGOV
Mormânt De Snagov was founded in 2008 in Turku, Finland. The aim of the band was to create stripped-down classical black metal, but also boldly explore new territories and add new aspects to the genre. A great part of the lyrics have risen from the frustration towards the hypocritical religious community and are openly blasphemous. Also, as the name of the band suggests, some of the lyrics are dealing with such concepts as immortality and the resurrection of evil.
After the writing process had begun and after a short rehearsal period, the debut album "Rise from The Void" was released through Wintersunset Records in February 2010.
After the release of the “Rise From The Void” Mormânt De Snagov did relentless gigging around their native Finland and played in every major city, some for multiple times. The first official music video was filmed and the band released several self-financed EPs and singles of limited quantities, which are now all out of catalogue.
In 2012 the first split-CD was released with a fellow Finnish band.
2013 saw the coming of the second full length album: Derisive Philosophy was released through the Romanian based Pest Records in the summer of 2013 and gained international recognition and was well received by the international music press. More gigs were scheduled and the band was sharing stages with the likes of Negură Bunget, Black Crucifixion, Sacrilegious Impalement and Temple Of Baal among others all through the remaining year and 2014.
2015 was embraced with another international co-operation in the form of a split-CD with the Moroccan black metal band Abnabak. This unexpected EP featured three efforts from each band and was released through the British underground label Cold Raw Records.
After 2015 Mormânt De Snagov have been locked away building their own self-financed studio and rehearsal space and have been busy creating new material. The first outcome of these lengthy sessions will be unleashed unto the world in early 2018 when the band will continue its collaboration with Pest Records. The new album “Depths Below Space And Existence” will mark the first ten year anniversary for the band and sees another dramatic turn in terms of musical and visual progression. The utterly poorly kept public secret within the band remains, that after the release of the new record and selected concert outings the band will immediately start to record their fourth album, as the new songs are already done and waiting for the word “GO!”.
