HateSphere China Blog Part 3 - ´The trouble starts´
by Gast

Just got back to the hotel after a crazy taxi ride.
It seems like the traffic here is totally out of control.
We have been hanging out quit a bit with the boys from "Rock Hard Power Spray" these days.
Nice guys who knows how to throw a party.
Well, I will turn back time to the 2nd of May, the day of our second show in Beijing:
We went to the venue, and ends up waiting for the local crew to set up the gear.
We meet up with EL CACO, which are a very good band from Norway, also taking part of the show that night.
Communication is hard with the local crew, because of the language barrier, so everything takes longer.
Mads, our soundguy , is about to loose it several times ? which we of course find very funny.
The Painkiller and the Schecter guys, who are sponsoring the tour, are the coolest guys.
They are really there for us when it is needed. Yang and Freddy (the baddest motherfucker in Beijing), speaks English, so they can translate for us.
We finish our soundcheck, and go eat with Yang and his girlfriend Wendy.
Then the trouble starts.
There are 2 local support bands and then EL CACO, before we go on stage.
Right before the first band enters the stage, a guy from the Chinese Culture Department shows up, and tells the organizers that the show have to stop at 12. Not 1 minute later!
And since everything is already delayed, we are fucked. If we are lucky we can play 25 minutes, which pretty much suck.
There are long and loud discussions in Chinese, and we try to shorten down the playing time of the local supports and bla bla...
The last Chinese support decides to keep on playing longer and all kind of shit happens.
The club is pretty much full now, and EL CACO plays a cool set.
The Danish DJ Duo Kasper Bjørke og Josephine Filip shows up together with HipHopsters Ufo/Yepha and Rock Hard Power Spray. All in a good drunken mood.
We enter the stage and 600 people are going crazy! The first 3 songs are pure mayhem - amazing.
After 8 songs, Freddy comes to me and says that the Cultural Department guy has left the building, and we can play as long as we want.
I was told later that the guy saw how much people was into us, and he was afraid that if we stopped playing too early, the crowd would go berserk.
So we continue our set, and everything is cool.
All the Danish bands, Martin from ROSA and EL CACO go out for dinner and drinks in the night.
A good night.

We got on the plane to Beijing - had a safe flight and all. Landed - no problems with the customs - everything went smooth. Met up with our Danish guy, Martin, over here.
Checked in at our hotel and had a rest before we went out for dinner and drinks.
1st of May and 1st show: The Midi Festival
Everything seems to be a bit chaotic when we arrive at the festival. And chaos is the main subject over here. More about that later. Time for a soundcheck. Normally it´s pretty fast, but there are issues because of the language. Only 1 person of the crew (out of 100 or so) speaks English. And we don´t speak Chinese. So things are a bit more tricky. But it works out okay, and we play a couple of songs to make sure that everything works fine. Around 300 people are already in front of the stage screaming for more.
There is no real backstage - there is a press tent where we hang out a bit, and talks about todays schedule.
All good so far, but still everything seems a bit chaotic.
We take a walk around the festival area, and get a few beers, and check out the tents with shirts and other stuff.
And then the madness begins: This is no joke. I think we got something like 500 photos taking during the afternoon .With fans that knew who we are - and with people who just wanted to take pictures with those tall, weird looking guys from some other country.
Every 5 minute some guy came to us and said: "Please - take picture?"
So weird to be in that situation the whole day - but fun. Met a lot of fun people.
Later on we got told that people are considering us as being the headliners that day.
Interviews are being made and more photos are being taken.
I already got a bad thing going on in my body - had it from the early morning.
So I am forced to visit the toilet 3 times that afternoon. And it´s no fun being 2 meters tall, and then take a shit in a small closet with a hole in the floor, ha ha - check the pictures and you know what I mean.
Showtime.
Mayhem - that´s all I can say. Never found out how many people that were there.
But somewhere between 15.000 and 20.000. And everybody is into it. Crazy!
After the show we go to this venue called Star Live. Our new buds from Rock Hard Power Spray plays there. We all get drunk, and the rest is a blur. Check the pictures I did and enjoy.
Will be back tomorrow with a report of our second show.
