Biography:
What´s a moodra? It comes from the sanskrit word mudra, which has many different meanings, one of which is "a hand position used during meditation."
Fans say their sound has elements of Grateful Dead, Steely Dan & Counting Crows, but they don´t really sound just like anybody. Their musical influences are; Allman Brothers, Joni Mitchell, Jefferson Airplane, Dylan & Zappa, along with Genesis, Floyd, Phish, etc.
What stands out at a Moodras show is their talented array of vocals. Nearly every song has captivating vocals with various combinations of 2-, 3-, and even 4-part harmonies. The double drummers add a solid backbone of intricate poly-rhythms and great danceable backbeats. Moodras will be appearing all around the New York tri-state area this fall and winter. If you are a club owner looking for a good band, a band looking for a good opening act, or if you´re having a party and would like some music for it, drop us a line! We are always looking to expand our community of friends and music.
