BiografieWorld to Ashes began in the beginning of 2005 with Benjamin Possinger and Lorenz Schmidt on guitars, Gernot Wegele on drums and Achim Wiedemann on the mic. Our first songs lend more towards Hardcore/Metalcore but soon we found out that our heart was more on the metal side. Given this, Gernot Wegele left the band and Achim switched to the drums. Now a singer was missing, but the gap was filled in Summer by Christoph Zacharias who made the band almost complete. In this formation the band played several regional shows. In early summer of 2006 Christian stepped up to try the bass but it turned out that his ambitions didn't match with ours, so we parted as friends. The vacancy was filled by Sascha Hornberger in Spring 2007.

In Summer 2007 we released our first E.P. "Of what there is to come", which was well received by the press and the people. Until that point World to Ashes played several shows in Germany, Switzerland and Holland with bands like One Man Army and the Undead Quartet, Eluveitie, Endstille, Sacrificium and Crisis Never Ends. Two years later the first full-length album "In contemplation of death" was released in summer of 2009, also on the german label Whirlwind Records.
Right after the release of "In contemplation of death", Ben left the band because his job was demanding on him just too much. So for the time to come, Mark from Lysis helped us out as session live-guitarist. But luckily we already found a new permanent guitarist in december 2009. So World to Ashes is back in 2010 with a stable line-up and ready to kick asses again!

The motivation behind World to Ashes is our passion for intense melodic music as well as the ability to present our thoughts, feelings and experiences in a form that meets their core. With our creation of art, we want to express the things we daily see and experience, the things that surround us, push us, alter us, bring us to the ground and in the end to the grave.
