BiografieUmbra Nihil draws musical influences from various genres, these being mainly some metal, psychedelic and doom bands, folk groups and some classical composers

Other non-musical influences are, for example, Giger, Gallen-Kallela, Simberg (painters), Poe, Lovecraft, Jung, Waltari, Lönnrot, Huxley, Blake (authors) and ofcourse the Finnish seasons, nature, mysticism, pagan-religion and habits around it.

The musical goal of the band is to make non-conventional, yet melodic and atmospheric doom-metal by using e.g. non-conventional song structures and by using whatever instruments suitable for the song ie. not only the conventional band-instruments, although the music is based on the use of these.

So far the band has put out a promo/demo-cd-r which was sent to various magazines, web-zines and labels. During the summer of 2002 the songs were partially rerecorded and remixed and all the songs were remastered for a better sound quality.
