Band:

Sacred Oath

BiografieSacred Oath was originally formed in 1985 in Connecticut USA by founding members Rob Thorne (vocals/guitar), Kenny Evans (drums), Pete Altieri (bass), and Glen Cruciani (guitar). They began to assemble their own brand of spooky power metal right away with songs like The Ferryman's Lair, Battle Cry, and Prophecy. The original 3-song demo caught on quickly with metalheads across the states, selling hundreds of copies. Developing their fan base and unique sound through self-produced concerts, the band quickly recorded another 5-song demo entitled "Shadow Out of Time"(1986). They also published their own newsletter called "Invocation" which was mailed out to hundreds of metal heads around the world every month - all this while the members of the band were still in high school. Soon after the release of "Shadow Out of Time" the band was signed to metal indie label Mercenary Records and did some regional touring in America while recording the now classic "A Crystal Vision". This debut album was released on vinyl and cassette in 1987 and later it was released on CD in 1988. Sacred Oath went on hiatus in December 1988 when Mercenary Records folded, and didn't play together again until re-entering the studio in 1998 to record "A Crystal Revision" with the help of Sentinel Steel Records. Some of these recordings were released alongside a re-issue of the original debut in 2001. The complete “Revision” album was released on the Angel Thorne label in 2005. Despite decades of struggle with a failed record label, poor distribution, and fragmentation of the band, Sacred Oath still managed to garner cult status in the metal netherworld through their enthusiastic and devoted fans worldwide. In the summer of 2005, the band entered the studio for a fifth time to record the landmark “Darkness Visible” CD. It was released in America by Sentinel Steel on April 17th 2007 and launched the band back into fully-active status. Guitarist Bill Smith and bassist Scott Waite joined the band for the “World Indivisible Tour” in the fall of 2007. A recording was made on the very first night of the tour – Sacred Oath’s co-headlining appearance at the Keep It True Festival in Germany - and was released as a live album “…’Till Death Do Us Part” in America on June 17th2008. XM satellite radio picked up on the disc right away, giving it featured airplay in North America. Apple iTunes featured the CD on the rock homepage for 6 weeks as one of eight top metal live albums (alongside Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Kiss, and Motorhead). The Hot Topic Stores chain in America is also carrying the disc as one of a select few in their catalog. …’Till Death Do Us Part will be released in Europe on October 24th 2008. Sacred Oath is currently recording a new studio album for a Spring 2009 release and intends to tour extensively through Europe and America to support it.Quelle: http://www.myspace.com/sacredoathDiscografie1985 - Sacred Oath (Demo)
