Band:

Ritual Carnage

BiografieRitual Carnage concept was achieved in 1993 by D.Montgomery.
He started playing Bass guitar in his first band in
1983 called Pagan Faith in Tampa, Florida.
His first influences were mainly British bands such as Iron Maiden,
Motorhead, Judas Priest, AC/DC, and Black Sabbath.
Other members of his first band introduced
him to some more extreme bands like Discharge,
Raw Power,and Suicidal Tendencies.
Metallicas´ "Kill ´em All" was released as well in that year
and Montgomery realized that Metallicas´ mixture of speed and
aggression combined with metal was what he wanted to play most.In 1985,
Music for Nations released the 1st "Speed Kills" compilation and
was introduced to bands like Celtic Frost, Razor, Exciter, and Slayer.
These bands influenced him greatly,
and in 1986 he left Pagan Faith in search of metal............no luck!
The Tampa bay area was still dominated by hardcore and punk bands,as well,
the glam metal movement began.
Disgusted, he decided to join the military and see the world.
In 1986, he came to Tokyo with the Air Force
and was stationed at Yokota Airbase.Soon after arriving there,
he met John Dunmire who was the vocalist of the band
S.I.C. John´s band was looking for a new guitarist
and found out about Montgomery by
his extremely loud guitar playing in the dormitory.
Though S.I.C. was a hardcore band,
John wanted to thicken the sound and put a metallic edge to the guitars.
Montgomery was not very interested in playing hardcore,
but he missed playing in a band and playing live shows......so he joined.
S.I.C. played many shows and tours and recorded a split 12´ record
with the band ROSE ROSE in 1987.
In 1988, John left the band and soon after Montgomery left as well.
Montgomery returned to Tampa in 1989
and played briefly in a metal band called N.F.G.
From 1990 until 1993, Montgomery gave up playing in bands,
mainly because of lack of dedication from the other members.
He became a biker, and riding Choppers became his new love.
In 1993, he started playing bass and guitar once again.
Montgomery also became intersted in Tattooing.
So he saved his money and moved back to Japan to learn how to tattoo.
He became a tattoo apprentice of Hori-Waka in Asakusa.
During his free time,
he wrote music on a four track with a drum machine. In 1994,
he joined the band Scrap Tambourine.
He liked their aggression and their powerful shows.
About a year after, the band started to fall apart.
The other members were getting married
and having children and losing interest in the band.
Montgomery decided to leave the band and tried to get Ritual Carnage going.
This proved to be very difficult.
He started playing with Alex Amedy (drums) and Bill Jokela (Bass).
Bill left the band because he could not dedicate enough time to the band,
and Alex was busy with his band, Section 8.
He recorded a couple of rehearsal tapes on a 4 track
and gave them out to freinds and record shops.
Soon after, he met Shinjiro Sawada (drums), and Ken (guitar).
They recorded a 5 song demo in 1996 at Morrisound in Tampa, Florida.
On December of1996, Ritual Carnage played their 1st show at Meguro Live Station.
A few weeks later,
Ken and Shinjiro left the band to concentrate on their own band, Blood Shower.
Alex´s band broke up and he joined Ritual Carnage once again.
Soon after Hideo Ideno joined the band on bass.
They played one show together in July of 1997.
On August of 1997, Eddie joined the band on lead guitar.
They played 2 shows with Mortician in Tokyo in September.
A month later, Alex was fired for being lazy
and making too many mistakes at live shows.
On January of 1998,
Ritual Carnage recorded its first full length record at Morrisound.
After the recording, Naoya Hamaii became the new drummer.
A few months later,
Shige Kamazawa became the second lead guitarist
and Montgomery became the vocalist only.
Ritual Carnage then sent its recording out to nearly every metal record label.
They were immediately offered contracts by Osmose Productions,
Metal Blade, Displeased Records, and Merciless Records.
They decided that Osmose would be the best for them.
In July of 1998, Ideno left the band to concentrate on his own project.
Montgomery took over on Bass and vocals.
Their 1st album was released on October.
On November/December,
they did their first tour of Europe with Impaled Nazarene and Driller Killer.
The tour was very successful and they´re name was spread throughout Europe.
To their surprize, the record was recieved very well throughout the world.
In America, SOD Magazine rated their record 10 out of 10 and pick of the issue.
Holland and Beligium´s biggest metal magazine AArdschock,
rated their record 94 of 100 and writer Rene Vandeerhoof choose their record as
album of the year.
Keith Harris, a writer for Terrorizer nominated their record
as one of the top 5 releases of 1998.
They recieved such a positive reaction from the world with their 1st record.
On March of 1999,
label mates Impaled Nazarene came to Japan to tour with Ritual Carnage.
On this tour they played their first show in Osaka. Then on May of 1999,
Ritual Carnage went to Europe to support Immortal and Benediction for 17 shows.
The shows were extremly successful and they were embraced by the European audiences.
On June, Marduk came to Japan and played 3 shows here.
After the tour, Kamazawa was asked to leave the band due to personal differences.
Soon after, former Disgust guitarist Nakabayashi joined the band.
On September,
Ritual Carnage flew to Florida again to record their new album
"Every Nerve Alive" at Morrisound.
Then on October and November, they flew to Austria to tour East Europe with Krabathor.
The tour was the most successful by far. The shows averaged 1000 or more people a night.
After the tour,Nakabayashi was asked to leave the band due to financial
and personal problems.Quelle: http://www.addictease.com/ritualcarnageDiscografie2005 I, Infidel
