Pungent Stench

Biografie

More than eight years after their latest album „Club Mondo Bizarre - For Members Only“, austrian Metal legend Pungent Stench are back with a bang. The fact that Pungent Stench never split up officially made rumours about a new album going round in the last couple of years. Alex and Martin, the two founders of this sick three-piece outfit, always waited for the right time to come back. Back in 1997, when Nuclear Blast released the CD BOX „Praise The Names Of The Musical Assassins“ they started to think about a new album. Jacek Perkowski, their old bass player, wasn’t very enthusiastic about this idea and so Alex and Martin asked Marius from Belphegor to join the band. With this line-up they entered the famous House Of Music Studio (Sinner, Primal Fear, Brainstorm) in Winterbach / Germany to record their new album „Masters Of Moral, Servants Of Sin“. This album contains some of the strongest material they have ever written. Songs like „Loot Shoot Electrocute“, „Schools Out Forever“, „Diary Of A Nurse“ or „Rex Paedophilus“ are already P.S. classics and will probably cause their fans to breaking their necks during the liveshows. Also, the lyrics are as sick as they´ve been in the past. Pungent Stench write about the might and the power of religion and the sickness of its followers. Combined with their typical sense of humor, this is definitely the sickest stuff you can get these days. Pungent Stench again are near to get into troubles with censorship, but they give a shit about the wrong moral of this sick society.

Get into the world Of Pungent Stench and get brainwashed. Your world won’t be the same!!!

History:
Austria and its famous capital Vienna saw the birth of one of the sickest acts back in 1988. Pungent Stench has always stood on the artistic fringes of Death Metal, their Artwork being shocking but startlingly real. Their music brutal, but in an inspired way both, humorous and original. Their concept was often a little warped but intelligent and they have never deserted the basic strength of this type of music. It was a slow and often painfully frustrating experience at first, cause Austria was not recognised as a strong Death Metal country. After the release of their first EP „Extreme Deformity“, which included three demo tracks, a following began to emerge which gave the band far more confidence in their own music. Already signed to Nuclear Blast, they became the new underground heroes and started to work on their new album. „For God Your Soul...For Me Your Flesh“ was released in April 1990 and established the band as one of the leaders in the European Death Metal and Grindcore scene. Their live perfomance these days was one of the sickest and intense shows you could find, visually and musically.
November 1991 saw the release of their second album „Been Caught Buttering“ followed by a tour with Type O Negative. The tour saw them playing in Israel, USA, Australia, Turkey and of course, the most important European countries. After this tour they started to remix „For God Your Soul...“ to release it in the US, but the mix went so good that they decided to re-release the album in Europe also with the new mix. After the release of the mini-album „Dirty Rhymes And Psychotronic Beats“ (incl. the major hit „Why Can’t Bodies Fly“), in April 1993, it was time to give everybody the possibility to see their sick liveshow and so they decided to release the homevideo „Video La Muerte“ later on in 1993, followed by „Club Mondo Bizzare - For Members Only“ (March 1994). After this, the time was right for a short break and nobody expected that this could take more than 8 years. In 1997, Nuclear Blast released a CD-Box called „Praise The Names Of The Musical Assassins“ which contained a lot of unreleased material and rarities, as well as the most popular tracks of the band. Alex Wank himself chose all the songs and wrote the liner notes for this fan package.
Now it’s 2001 and the world needs another lesson teached in sickness and sarcasm. It’s time for Pungent Stench again!!!
