Band:

Plan E

BiografiePLAN E starts as instrumental project in May 1995 with J ani Lehtosaari [distorted bass], Reetta Säisä [keyboards] and Reima Kellokoski [drums]. Immediately the band recorded a demo, while in August Kellokoski joins Impaled Nazarene . Niko Karppinen [soft bass] joins PLAN E and Lehtosaari decides to take care of some vocals. In November-December the first studio sessions was made at Tico-Tico Studio . In February 1996 Lehtosaari joins Impaled Nazarene, while a Five-track debut-cdep "E For Your Ears" was released in April on Lehtosaari´s own E Records label. In June PLAN E entered again the Tico-Tico Studio and in July the Neo Studio to record a new Four-track cdep called "E For Your Eyes" which was released in October. The original trio continues without Karppinen and in December Jori Hulkkonen contacts PLAN E and asks for a permission to remix the song “Deep”. "Deep" remix -single was released in January 1997 as a transparent 7" vinyl.

Once again the band entered the Neo and Tico-Tico Studios during June-August to record the six-song mini-lp "E Spelled Backwards" released in October as a limited 10" multicoloured vinyl. In the meanwhile Markku "Lene" Leinonen from Terveet Kädet joined PLAN E as a second bassist.

In April 1998 start the recordings for the first full length album at Tico-Tico Studio that finished only in August. The long pause was occupied by another single called "Lunarscapes" including a new remix by Jori Hulkkonen. It was released in May on green 7" vinyl. The debut album finally sees the light on October 1998 on Lehtosaari´s new record label Solardisk. The name of the dark creature was "Songs For A Rainy Day". In November Leinonen moves to USA but the original trio continues. In November was realised the first promo-video "Shape Shift" finished in November.

1999 starts with great news… "Songs For A Rainy Day" cd was licensed to Root Of All Evil Records with a Joy Division cover as bonus track. In February 2000 start the recordings for the new album starts at Tico-Tico. In the same time Lehtosaari leaves Impaled Nazarene and concentrates his efforts on Solardisk label & the recordings of PLAN E album. In august was released a Split-cdep with the US-band Climb To Zalem while the recording sessions for "Found And Lost" album finished at Soundmix Studio in November 2000. “Found And Lost” sees finally the light in March 2001, but a week after the release, original members Kellokoski and Säisä leave the project.

The Black League drummer Sir Luttinen [ex-Impaled Nazarene] joins PLAN E as a session drummer in November while a new video was realised for the song "Deep 2000". Heikki Haataja from March Maggot joins PLAN E for another session drummer duty and immediately PLAN E concentrate again their efforts to the realisation of the third full-length album whose recordings starts at Tico-Tico Studio on June 2002. The recordings for the album continued for a couple of months and finished at Soundmix Studio in October. In the meanwhile Lehtosaari gets sick and tired of running the record label business and closes Solardisk down in June 2003.

Throughout the year the recordings for the album were realised and finally "Best Kept Secret" album was mixed and mastered in the winter 2003-2004 and so they started to look for a recording deal… while d rummer Heikki Haataja becomes a permanent member of PLAN E and Shadow In The Dark promo video was finished in February.

Two new bass players, Ilari Kinnunen [formerly guitarist in Nazca] and Lene Leinonen [from Terveet Kädet, also earlier a PLAN E member in 1997-1998] join PLAN E early 2004. After a licence in the Russian territory with the label Irond Rec., in the spring 2004 finally arrives the deal they wished for. Italian label MY KINGDOM MUSIC offered them a two albums deal and the first one of this will be just “Best Kept Secret”. The deal was signed…!!! The ART is served!!! Enjoy their minimalist, melancholic plan-e-tarium.

Best Kept Secret - Cover
Metal Inside?
