Merendine Atomiche

BiografieMerendine Atomiche reach 11 years in Heavy Metal scene in this 2006. For the long story of this five pieces act we choose to write it year by year:


1995 - Merendine Atomiche born by five school mates in Cittadella (Pd) Italy. The band performed its first show in a birthday party, playing cover of several bands, with the name of "Vanishing Wizards".


1996 - The band changed its name in "Merendine Atomiche", performing a couples of shows, but the line up remained very unstable and, soon, new changes came up.


1997 - The band changed its name in "Mantra" but, also this project failed, so, the band, back to call itself "Merendine Atomiche" and, with new line up formed by founder member Luca Cerardi on drums, Luca Zandarin on vocals, Giulia Cerardi on rhythm guitar and Luca M. on bass, recorded the first demo tape at King Kong Studios in Cittadella, Padova, Italy in december. The demo tape called simply "Demo 1997" contains four Thrash-Hardcore songs sang in Italian.


1998 - The demo tape had only a few reviews in italian magazines. The band, also, officialy broke up on march but, soon, rose up with new members. Merendine Atomiche, following this new project, prefered to play cover than to keep going on with its own stuff. They prefered to get experience. In July they became Metallica tribute band and started to play covers in the clubs.


1999 - with this new line up Merendine Atomiche played a long tour in its own Region Veneto for the entire year until October, where they recorded a tribute cd called, obviously, "Tribute to Metallica" with five of the best songs wrote by the fourhorsemen. With this new cover cd, they started to be known in Italy for the perfection of the songs execution. Later this year, Merendine Atomiche had the pleausure to support WHITE SKULL in Padova, during their Italian tour.


2000 - The Metallica Fan club (italian section) nominated Merendine Atomiche Official tribute band for Italy in that year and, with this title, the band toured North Italy from January to september gaining exposure and experience. With this new energy they entered the studio to back on its own music. From may to august, the band recorded the first mini cd album called "The Holy Metal" at NoBrain studios in Zianigo (Venice) and produced its first studio video of the title track "Holy Metal". The cd contains five melodic thrash metal songs, now in english. From November, the band started their first Italian tour.


2001 - Merendine Atomiche played around Italy for the entire year. "The Holy Metal" had a great exposure in Italy and for the first time abroad. It has received many great reviews and songs such as "Holy Metal", "War or peace" and "Mental Agony" have been part of many compilations around the World: "What must we do to get Attention" (Italy), "Blown to pieces" (The Netherlands), "Beloved apocalypse" (italy), "Atlantida compilation" (Lithuania) and "The Harder , the better" (U.S.A.). "Mental Agony" has been part of the sampler included in the "Thrash Metal Encyclopaedia" with many famous bands such us NEVERMORE, EXODUS, CARNAL FORGE etc...edit by Cherry red records in collaboration with Rockdetector.com. Obviously, the band has been part of the encyclopaedia too.


2002 - The band, with this great beginning with "The Holy Metal", started to work over the first full length album but, during the first seven months, they still on the road with the second Italian tour. During the summer, Merendine Atomiche recorded the new stuff at Sunlight studios in Stockholm, (Sweden) with the co-production of Tomas Skogsberg who already worked with bands suchs as KATATONIA, GRAVE, HELLACOPTERS etc...The new album was called "Walk across fire" and it contains eight Thrash-Hard rock metal songs, including the first video clip of the opener song "Blood for glory". Merendine Atomiche had the pleausure to collaborate, in this album, with two stars of the heavy metal: Jeff Waters (ANNIHILATOR) who played two solos over the song "Game Over" and Anders Lundemark (KONKHRA) who sang over "Revenge".


2003 - The band presented the first full length album at FrontFest in Ghent - Belgium, in the first foreign show ever. Then, they present the cd in Vicenza - Italy, starting the third Italian tour. The band received a lot of great reviews from all the World. The song "Game Over" has been part of Metallian sampler (Franch magazine). In June, Merendine Atomiche signed with Skateboard marketing (New Yorkbased promotion) for a full America radio promotion all around the fifty states. In september the advertise begun. The first week, "Blood for glory" reached the second place of the "most added", only behind new Sepultura album "Roorback". In the second week, the album entered for the first time ever in the top 50 chart. In a few weeks, "Walk across fire" scored the bet position at 37th the same week "Dance of Death" of IRON MAIDEN reached the first place. The album kept in the top 50 for a month and for this great result, obtained with any help by lables of others, Merendine Atomiche received the main page of heavy metal section with an interview underlined with this title "Merendine Atomiche brings Italian Heavy style". The good goals gave the band the chance to keep "Game Over" in the radio shows for other two weeks, entering in many top 20 charts. On December, the promotion was over. In the same month, Merendine Atomiche had the first interview in ROCK HARD magazine, meanwhile they received the first one in METAL SHOCK, in may. The band reached also the first place in the Polish chart and the partecipation in many other radio shows all around the World.


2004 - Merendine Atomiche hit one of its dreams, playing in march at METAL MELTDOWN FESTIVAL VI, in Irvington, New Jersey, supporting bands such as TESTAMENT, OBITUARY, VITAL REMAINS, RAVEN, FOZZY, SEVEN WITCHES, PRONG, SYMPHONY X, JOEY BELLADONNA, CHRIS CAFFREY, PAIN MUSEUM and more. David had the pleausure to play with one of METAL MIKE´s guitar who, personally, give it to him that day. It was the first American show ever for the band. With a dream came true and having reached many goals with "Walk across fire", the band back in Italy supporting ENTOMBED and playing in their howetown in front of 1000 people to party the great american goal. Many regional newspaper wrote about the band with full pages on the "music" section and they had the first interviews in METAL HAMMER magazine. During this year, the band started to work over the new stuff for the second full length album. Drummer Luca Cerardi, also, reached the degree in History at Venice University.


2005 - Merendine Atomiche recorded the new album "Raw". The band did it at New Sin Studios, in Loria, Treviso, where many famous bands already did their CDS. The band had the pleausure to have as co-producer JACK FROST (SEVEN WITCHES, OVERKILL, SAVATAGE, METALIUM). They made a great work together. This masterpiece contains 11 songs of Metal with a various well mix of hardcore, thrash, melodic and hard rock. 2005 means, also, 10 YEARS IN HEAVY METAL . Merendine Atomiche support during the end of the year Hardcore legend AGNOSTIC FRONT.


2006 - Merendine Atomiche after five months spent to find a good deal proudly announced their agrrement with Mausoleum Records (FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, WARRANT, L.A. GUNS, ANGEL WITCH, KILLING MACHINE etc...) for the release of "Raw". Gute Thrash-Bands sind selten und gute italienische noch viel mehr. MERENDINE ATOMICHE gehören zu dieser raren Spezies und haben mit "Raw" ein ziemlich gelungenes Werk in der Hinterhand. Drummer Luca plauderte dann auch bereitwillig und sehr ausführlich über die Entstehung des Albums, den Studiowechsel und verdutzte Kellner.
