Biografie"MELANCHOLY" was created on the 12th of december in 1998, on the "ruins" of Angry-Death project Last Angel. As for now MELANCHOLY actively experimented with the different musical styles and directions of modern hard music, though it´s true to say that basically the sound was creating in such directions as Death, Gothic and Doom with elements of Nu-Metal.

Their First release called "The Fatal Deconstruction Of World" was recorded on cassettes.. After releasing of this album the group began concert activities, playing mainly on the North of Russia, step by step getting more and more fans. After some changes in the staff of the team Melancholy recorded at their own studio the1st CD album called "Fear Of Emptiness" (2002). This album had a lot of favorable reviews of the press and Melancholy itself regarded this album is as the real debut of the group. After this album there happened some replacements in the staff of the group again. After intensive work and the following concert playing the group decided to make a risky step (in the opinion of Russian metal underground) to drop a maxi single. Soon in specialized music shops there came out a single "Closed Eyes" (2003). The listeners didn´t appreciate this work favorably and the critics considered this work worse than the previous one. But this sudden unluck only united the guys more closely and they began working harder. By the end of 2003 year when new material was practically ready - unexpectedly there came information about the leaving from the group one of the leaders - the gitarist Nuch (he was the text writer of melancholy at that moment). Because of this fact the release of the album was put aside for some period of time. At this very moment there appeared the idea to use new musical instruments that could have changed the sound of the group and to give it new life. After this there appeared Cello in the stuff of "melancholy" and new member.. The group decided to do their best and at their studio "Mindcrusher Labs" recorded their 3rd CD album called "Abeyance" (2004). This work has become the best one of the group: here you could find new electronic sound together with gitar´s riffs ????(спросить у ПАШИ), cello together with tender female vocal create unrepeatable atmosphere of Melancholy´s style that we can call Nu-Gothic-Metal.
