Further Lo was founded in the winter of 2001 by guitarists Randy Reynolds (formerly of Soul Destruction) and Donnie Davis (former of Hybrid Nation). With Reynolds and Davis at the helm, the band drew from roots in the Southern Metal stylings of bands such as Black Label Society and Corrsion of conformity. The band initially recorded three demo songs at the world famous Recording Workshop. The songs (The Actor, Untitled, and I Bleed) featured lyrics and lead vocals by Donnie Davis.

Former Soul Destruction drummer Turk Elliot who brought to the music an influence immersed in the old-school thrashings of Slayer and Voivod soon joined the band. Also joining the ranks of Further Lo was bassist Sean Miller who brought to the further Lo sound the influence of both classic Black Sabbath and the newer musical idealism of Down. Satisfying Donnie Davis’ desire to concentrate on guitar playing and regulate himself to background singing, the line-up was rounded out with the addition of former Soul Destruction vocalist Aaron Werner who brought to the band the electronic element influence of industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails and Velvet Acid Christ.

With this diverse and at times obscure mixture of musical input, Further Lo made it’s line-up debut on Friday November 8th, 2002 at the Billiard Club in their home town of Columbus. With 2 brand new songs, new lyrics and a new voice under their belt, Further Lo immerged with a vengeance that was apparent to all that witnessed. From the additional light show constructed by the band to add to any standard club lights, Further Lo fulfilled the first phase of it’s goal to create a total spectacle environment to their audience.

In the spring of 2003, Further Lo signed a 2-album, 3-year record deal with New York’s Power Play Records. The band’s debut album was recorded at Relay Studios in Bexley, Ohio in July, August of 2003. The 10-song album was released world wide on Power Play Records in October of 2003 with live support from the band to follow.

Also in October of 2003 at the band’s CD release party for their Power Play debut, the band announced they had entered a partnership with the Columbus based professional hockey team the Columbus Stars. The AAA hockey club now utilized the band’s music during it’s games including Further Lo’s song “IBleed” being adopted at the Star’s entrance to the ice theme.

As Further Lo moves toward the future, the band’s goals are to continue tot build on it’s live spectacle as well as further gel in it’s still new writing chemistry and promote its upcoming debut album with support from video. As the downward spiral continues to churn and mix these highly unstable sonic elements, the pool of power-engulfing quicksand known as Further Lo will continue to grow and become stronger as time goes on
