Band:

Cantata Sangui

BiografieTwo bassists, no guitarists, female lead vocals - a heaven, a hell or a Marriage thereof?

Originally founded as a two-bass doom/fusion combo in the dying years of the second Millennium, then gradually developing into the avant-garde metal monster it is today, evolution has always been a key ingredient of Cantata Sangui. A metamorphosis of ideas, their forms and their watchers.

Rising from the ashes of the semi-legendary Scarlet Whore, the first riffs ever played under the new name were slow and bleak doom metal. But each passing year brought in more pace and a more professional touch. More progression, more aggression. More light, more shadows. Add in a producer and a handful of samples, and the band's sound started to change into that nearly-perfected state which eventually caught the attention of the French label Season of Mist.

But while the tunes may change, the lyrical themes are still much the same as they ever were. Occultism, odd philosophy, blackened tentacles of half-forgotten histories; this is what the band insist on exploring and exploiting. Throw in a pinch of misunderstood science and a grain of atavistic bedlamite creativity, and you're ready for the ride.

Musically speaking, no genre is too holy; lyrically, no topic too unholy. It all fits into the ceaselessly seething crucible of Chanting Blood, occasionally boiling over and creating new chance realities.
