BiografieThe beginning
The Byatis´ adventure begins in the spring 1997. The band was then called Trepanation. It was composed of five members : Flav as guitarist and sharp voices, Vincent and Gilles, two brothers, as drummer and bass guitarist, Marc, as vocalist and finally Arnaud as other guitarist. Compositions were primary and resolutely oriented grind/death.

The evolution
After a year used to repeat, to compose and to make its first gigs, the band was reduced to three members : Flav, Vincent and Marc, who took the bass guitar in the same time. In November 1998, Phildar, Flav´s class neighbor, joined them as second guitarist. Thus is how Trepanation became Byatis. Moreover, this new name will be followed by a change of repertory. New influences appeared, such as progressive rock. Finally, the songs left less and less place to grind so as to put forwards death metal.

From a demo…
Byatis recorded for the first time in April 1999 to the Studio du Bras d´Or, for the compilation named Intramurock 6. The result showed that the band had to improve again. In their 3m² humid cellar, the four musicians worked their technique and composition. The band undertook its first concerts outside the region, with Torment and Kortex for instance.

…to an another
Not being satisfied of the preceding recording, Byatis recorded two of its new titles with one of their friends, Guillaume Dallery (Black Dust, Belenos, Shagma) in September 2000. These two songs were released on the "Race of Caïn " demo exited in January 2001. With this new support, the band offers itself new opportunities to play gigs in the north of France and in Belgium with bands such as Decline Of Humanity, Gerbe Of Life, Disgust, Amethyste, Tridus Elasticus,...

The album
After these gigs, the an album became necessary. The idea came to record main pieces of the concert set. In April 2002, the recording began in the cellar, always as rudimentary, and so were the means employed : a PC, a mixing table and some microphones borrowed to some friends... Nevertheless, the sound is well best than on the preceding productions, and better transports the aggressiveness of the music.
The recording of the seven titles of the album was finishing in July 2002, but Mark decided to leave the band in order to pursue its studies. Gilles reintegrated its place as bass guitar player, and Phildar recorded the vocals. BYATIS then signed a promotion & distribution deal with SKULL FUCKED PROD. SKULL FUCKED PROD convince Byatis to record the album in studio in order to obtain a better sound.
After several months, "In Dark Abysses of Memory has finally been released in september 2003. SKULL FUCKED PROD. will help BYATIS to be a bit more known into the worldwide underground scene and will try to help them to find some concerts ! BYATIS can be still considered as a self produced band and for that reason is still searching for a label able to help them in the future !!!
