Band:

BK 49

Biografie++ In The Beginning…

…of 1996, a restless bunch of Metal fiends arose from their crypts to create a monster that would bring ultimate heaviness to the Metal-hungry people. From this gathering, BK 49 was brought to life.
Starting out with former Assorted Heap members Thomas Marter (drums), Joachim "Lord" Meyer (bass) and Klaus Kessemeier (guitars) as well as Bernd Reiners (vocals) and Arne Berents (guitars) of local Thrash maniacs Pain For Pleasure, BK 49 soon released their first demo-tape Boiling Blood. Recorded at KKK-Bitch Studios, Boiling Blood delivered a bastard of old school Thrash in the vein of Slayer, Infernäl Mäjesty and Razor, enriched with slow and threatening, yet grooving aspects.

In October of 1997, Thomas and The Lord decided to leave the band. The drums were soon taken over by the young and hungry Frank Reiners, for whom BK 49 was the first band experience. The band then started working on new material. These songs showed an even more aggressive and uncompromising side of the band. In Spring of 1999, the crazy bunch was finally completed by the master of madness Patrick Feist, formerly of King Carrion.

In October of 1999, KKK-Bitch Studios were under attack once more to record the first CD, entitled Zombified. It featured seven straight forward, in-your-face Thrash missiles with a good portion of old school Death Metal in the vein of Possessed and Morbid Angel.

Several shows and festival appearances were to follow, which spread this high speed insanity over Germany and the band made clear what they had meant by naming their album Zombified: Through their music, the hordes of the walking dead were called to arms and BK 49´s shows always left a few behind who wouldn´t find their way back into the light.

In April of 2002, Frank Reiners quit the band and the drums once more asked for a replacement that would share the vision with the rest of the band. This man was soon found in Marc-Andrée "Mücke" Dieken (M.A.D. !!!), a long-time friend and former member of Pain For Pleasure, now active in German Death Metal veterans Obscenity since May 2000 and whose take-no-prisoners style of playing will blast you through the wall!

In June, the band entered Wolkensound Studios to record their next effort Join the Dead. This one features nine songs of Metal thrashing madness combined with the darkness and evilness of bands like Sadistic Intent, Necrophagia or the ever-reigning Autopsy. BK 49 managed to take their musical vision to the next level and created a go-for-the-throat piece of music that shows the band´s unique style, yet not denying their influences from the high and mighty old school of Heavy Metal!

Join The Dead - Cover
Der direkte Weg ist nicht unbedingt der beste. Über das schöne Quebec kommt diese Scheibe der Ostfriesen zurück in die "Heimat".
