BiografieWoe is a black metal band based out of Philadelphia, PA. Because long bios are dumb, here are the basics:



* Started as a solo project in 2007 by Chris Grigg

* With Chris playing all instruments, released a demo, split 7″ with Infernal Stronghold, followed by first full-length “A Spell for the Death of Man” (Stronghold Records) by September of 2008.

* Began playing live at the end of 2008, though intended to only play a few shows.

* Live shows continued throughout 2009 and saw the release of a vinyl edition of “A Spell…” co-released by Creeping Vine Productions and Subvert All Media.

* In 2010, Woe signed a three-album contact with Candlelight Records UK and USA. “Quietly, Undramatically” was recorded in March-April and slated for an October 12 release. It is the first Woe recording to feature Woe as a full band.



Woe’s lineup has shifted slightly throughout its short history, with the band performing as anywhere from a three-piece to a five-piece with three guitars. Woe lineup and alumni with other bands listed:



* Chris Grigg – now: guitar and vocals, all songs and lyrics and stupid decisions involving merch/web/etc,… All instruments on recordings prior to “Quietly,…” (also The Green Evening Requiem, Alfa, live/session drums for Krieg)

* Evan Madden – drums live and on “Quietly,…” (also Woods of Ypres, The Green Evening Requiem)

* Shane Madden – bass live and on “Quietly,…” (also Woods of Ypres, The Green Evening Requiem)

* Grzesiek Czapla – guitar live and select tracks on “Quietly,…” (also Infernal Stronghold)

* Matt Moore – guitar live and additional guitar on “Quietly,…” most notably lead and classical guitar (also Absu, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder)

* Shawn Riley – guitar live (also Alfa, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder)

* Ben Brand – guitar live (also Alfa, We Thieves)
