BiografieThe modern alternative rock band Trance of Mine (TOM) is a unique blend of melodic female vocals, powerful guitar grooves & riffs, subtle electronics and mesmerizing ethnic/acoustic atmospheres. "Those are literally our Four Elements", says singer and pianist Isabel Plant; "They´re part of our sound, and since most of our songwriting now comes from jams and improvisation, they´re guiding us as we close our eyes and just let the music flow".



TOM represents Isabel´s and guitarist Phil Roberts´ evolution since their previous project Transcendence, an atmospheric metal band whose two albums (Eternal Stream -1997 and Labyrinth -1999) were independently released in sixteen countries. "Transcendence was an amazing learning experience", explains Phil; "We played with internationally renown bands and gained great knowledge of the music industry."



In 2001, this talented duo experienced and discovered new moods and arrangements, which naturally led them in TOM´s addictive music and melodies. "Our new musical direction was so strong, so obvious, that Trance of Mine naturally appeared as the right definition for our creations" says Isabel.



Joining forces with ex-members of various established local acts, TOM members focused on writing and working on new songs. In late 2002, they entered the Arcane and B.T.L. Workshop studios to record pre-production demos, and have since recorded TOM´s first album entitled Reflections, released in spring 2004. This 10-track album captures TOM´s unique combination of the "Four Elements", and leaves listeners addicted to its groove, melodies, atmosphere and originality.




Since Spring 2003, TOM has played many shows around Eastern Canada,including opening stints for Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Daylight Dies, and Katatonia. TOM is getting airplay in local radio stations and is receiving excellent reviews. A tour is also scheduled for Fall 2004. In the meantime, joined by bassist Philip Laroche and drummers Mylen Dumais and Eric Duguay, Trance of Mine continues to compose new songs. "Our main goal is to bring our live performances and our songwriting to the next level, reaching as many people as possible, always looking for emotion and intensity", concludes Phil.
