Band:

The Briefs

BiografieThe Briefs are a punk rock/new wave band from Seattle, Washington US formed in 1999.

Original and current line-up:
Daniel J. Travanti- guitar, vocals
Lance Romance- bass, vocals
Steve E. Nix- guitar, vocals
Chris Brief- drums, vocals

The Briefs have released one full length LP/CD. Hit After Hit (Dirtnap Records), two sold out 7-inches Poor and Weird b/w Rotten Love , and I Think My Baby Is A Communist c/w Silver Bullet (Split single with The Spits, both records on Dirtnap) and three more 7-inches C´mon squash Me Like A Bug b/w Benny´s Got a Cigarette (Sub Pop), She´s Abrasive b/w Like A Heartattack and Love and Ulcers b/w We Americans (both on Dirtnap).

Discredited and dismissed by indie and alt. rock critics as "music for apes", and their character attacked: "at very best these boys should return to their jobs selling drugs at vocational college", The Briefs made a special yet still unknown point when they signed a recording contract with Interscope Records. A new full length LP/CD has been completed and will be released in the first months of 2003.

To date The Briefs have toured the United States three times. Once as a support act for The Damned, once headlining their own shows, and once through the Midwest supporting The Queers and then The Rezillos on the East Coast. The Briefs have toured the West Coast numerous times, headlined Thrasher magazine´s Skater of the Year show at The Fillmore and shared the stage with such acts as TSOL, One Man Army, The Living End, The Swinging Utters, F-Minus, The Real McKenzies, The Nerve Agents, Duane Peters and The Hunns, The Supersuckers, and The Spits.

Journalists with presumed intelligence and integrity have neglected The Briefs due to a perhaps understandable fear of the unfavorable stigma an affliction could cause. Yet press has accumulated and the press clippings show that there is a place for The Briefs in the hearts of music fans. They also may show that journalists who support The Briefs most likely have a hard time supporting themselves.

For the immediate future, a new three song single is scheduled for an October release in the U.K. on the Crystal Music label and tours of Europe is scheduled for November and December.

Seattle, da fällt einem nicht unbedingt Punk der alten Schule ein. Kennt jemand noch die Angry Samoans? Oder die Buzzocks?.
