Band:

Takara

BiografieAugust 1987

Takara was formed in August 1987 and spent their first year rehearsing and playing gigs. They also prepared for the recording of their first demos, which would be produced by Jeff Scott Soto.

November 1988

They went into a studio in November 1988 with Jeff producing. It turned out that their singer wasn´t up to the task of recording these songs, so Jeff was asked to help out by doing the vocals.

1990

By 1990 Takara were back in the studio recording what was to become their debut album "Eternal Faith". Again Jeff Scott Soto handled vocals and produced the album.

1992

The album took a while to do, and in 1992 the band made some changes to the line-up. The line-up finishing off the album was :

Jeff Scott Soto - vocals

Neal Grusky - guitar

Bob Duda - drums

Gary Schutt - bass

August 1993

Takara signed deals with Zero Corporation in Japan and Now and Then Records in Europe. "Eternal Faith" was released in December 1993 and sold 15,000 copies worldwide.

1994

Then began work on their second album "Taste of Heaven". But before rehearsals began, Gary Schutt had been replaced by Carl Demarco. They soon started recording the album, and bassist Bob Daisley was brought in to guest on a couple of tracks.

May 1995

"Taste of Heaven" was finished and ready to be released in May 1995. Long Island Records arranged a one week promotion tour to Germany to help the already growing sales.

1996

In 1996 they signed a US deal with a new label called Saraya Recordings. They released Takara´s two albums the same year.

1998

For the recording of their third album, Takara had added a new member to the band. This time a permanent keyboard player had been found in Eric Ragno. By 1998 Takara had finished their third album "Blind in Paradise". "Blind in Paradise" was released by Zero Corporation in Japan, Point Music in Europe and Saraya Recordings in the US.

1998

A compilation album called "Eternity" was also released this year.

Late 1998

At the end of the year 1998 it seemed that Takara was falling apart. Three members had left the band, including singer Jeff Scott Soto. But Neal Grusky and Bob Duda carried on searching for new members and a new line-up was put together. So the Takara story continues, though without the Yngwie connection.

Wenn man eine Band des Progrock Labels zur Begutachtung bekommt, rechnet man nicht unbedingt mit so etwas na sagen wir mal höflich „gewöhnlichem“.
