BiografieHeretoir is a German post-black metal project that was founded by Eklatanz in 2006. The band name, which consists of “Here-” from the English word "heretic" and the French syllable "-toir", is a fictional synonym for "going an own way". Eklatanz’ lyrics deal with melancholy, nostalgia, isolation and, most significantly, with this "own way": the music is meant to be a soundtrack for discovering one’s deepest thoughts, fears and the soul that rests in each one of us.



The band’s beginnings can mainly be connected to acoustic-oriented music but Heretoir quickly evolved into combining aggressive elements of Black Metal with the beauty, melancholy and reverie of Post Rock and Shoegaze in order to convey the daily myriad of feelings and impressions that our multifaceted world confronts us with. After the first demo "Existenz" (reissued as MCD), two compilations and the split-CD "Wiedersehen - unsere Hoffnung" with Thränenkind, the much anticipated first full-length, simply entitled "Heretoir", is now about to be released.



"Heretoir" deals with the topic of loss: A protagonist loses a beloved person and goes through different emotional and psychological phases in order to cope with it. Accordingly, the lyrics reflect the thoughts and feelings of the protagonist and give an insight into the fine line between sorrow, hate and hope, while the cover art of Fursy Teyssier (Les Discrets, Amesoeurs) and the album artwork of Metastazis (worked for Alcest, Anathema, Antaeus, Enthroned, Forgotten Woods, Gorgoroth, Taake, Immolation, Secrets of the Moon, Warner Bros.) perfectly complement the atmosphere of the album.



Since May 2010 Nathanael (Thränenkind, Bonjour Tristesse, Agrypnie -live-) has become an inherent part of Heretoir - he will play bass in studio as well as at live gigs, which are planned for 2011, but due to the lack of session guitarists, not yet fixed.
