Band:

Division

BiografieDivision is a band with a long - and somewhat infamous - history in the U.S. metal underground. They started life as Visionary in 1993 and made a splash upon their local scene with both live shows and a successful single, "Time Between Times." By 1995 the band had amassed enough interest to record their first CD "Paradise Lost." Based on traditional metal influences, yet with modern touches, the self-released disc quickly sold out its first pressing. The band´s ferocious live shows - including several Powermad festivals, appearances with Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Fates Warning and Savatage - quickly established them as one of the premier live acts in the metal underground. Their second CD "Ascension to Eternity" (Seigen Records) showcased a new maturity in the bans sound while still maintaining the energy of their debut, and once again the disc quickly sold out. More successful shows with King Diamond, Savatage, Nevermore and Iced Earth followed. The metal press latched on to the band in the U.S. and Europe with excellent reviews in magazines including Metal Maniacs, Snakepit, Metal Hammer (Greece) and Feast or Famine.

Building upon that success would prove to be a challenge for Division. In the process of creating their third album "Trinity," Division endured several lineup changes and substantial hurdles to the album´s release. Throughout this time, Division appeared on many tribute albums including "Return of the Mountain King - A Tribute to Savatage" ( Progressive Arts) and "Phantom Lords" (WWIII) with versions of their live favorites "Power of the Night" and "Creeping Death" respectively. Ultimately, this would prove to be a positive for the band by creating a leaner, more focused direction.

"Trinity," released on MetalAges Records in 2004, is by far the most intense Division album to date. From the ripping opener "Eleventh Hour" through the grind of "Tapping the Vein," and culminating with the epic "No World Order," this disc showcases the band´s energy and aggression while retaining a strong sense of melody. Strong enough, in fact, to be featured in the seminal German underground magazine Heavy, Oder Was?! and included in the accompanying Metal Crusade VII sampler. The band continues its tradition of a powerful live set with appearances at the Powerfest II and Classic Metal Fest IV resulting in new exposure for the band
