Band:

Ravage (US)

BiografieRavage is a heavy metal band from the Boston area of Massachusetts in the USA which blends elements from traditional sub-genres of metal to create a powerfully melodic and unique sonic assault. Two young brothers, Alec and Eli Firicano, formed the band in the mid 1990's as a response to the grunge music that dominated the American music scene at the time. They sought to return melodic heavy metal to the glory it had received in the past.

Alec began on drums and Eli on bass, but needing a singer, Alec soon took on the position of vocalist and was dubbed "Al Ravage" by some of the band's more rabid fans. Eli became interested in guitar, and within a short time he became the band's lead guitarist. Years of local gigs and numerous line-up changes followed while the band refined its songs and overall sound.

By 2003 band's line-up was completed and solidified. It now included 2nd lead guitarist and main songwriter Nick Izzo, drummer Phil Coyne (recruited from the ranks of young local technical thrash phenoms Cryptic Warning) and veteran bassist Anthony Bud (formerly of the major-label space rock group Melting Euphoria).

By this point the band had hammered out a unique sound which was a highly volatile mixture of the melodic elements of traditional blues-based heavy metal and 90's European power metal, with the heaviness and relentless energy of late 80's bay area thrash. The band was now ready to finally begin recording the wealth of musical material they had prepared so that it could finally scorch the ears of the masses. With the help of producer Jack Fenstermaker, Ravage recorded the "Curse Of Heaven" EP in 2003 and released it on their own label, Society For World Wide Ravage. The recording met with international acclaim and its limited pressing quickly sold out as both local fans and international mail orders snatched up copies as quickly as they could be printed.

In early 2004 the band began recording its first full-length album, tentatively entitled "Spectral Rider" with an international release due during mid-summer 2005. During a long and arduous recording process, the band parted ways with both drummer Phil Coyne, who left to join the band Random Acts of Violence (while continuing his duties in Cryptic Warning), and bassist Anthony Bud (who had musical differences with the band that came to light during the recording. The band soldiered on, and luckily they quickly found an excellent drummer, George Bellofatto. They continued playing local shows with fill-in bass players (including Howie Snow of the progressive hardcore band Move The Rabbit) as they finished up the mixing and mastering of the new record.

RAVAGE BIO The heavy metal band Ravage began as the idea of two young brothers from Boston MA, USA. The two, whom fans would come to know as Al Ravage and Eli Joe, wished to form a band that could bring bombastic heavy metal back to prominence and crush the insipid alterna-grunge music craze of the mid-90's. Though the barely-highschool aged rockers had mighty ambitions when they played their first gig in 1996, they quickly learned that Rome was not built in a day, and Ravage had to endure endless line-up changes while honing their sound and forging their way through the local underground metal scene. Rough demos, bootlegs and countless shows began to pay some dividends as the band gained a cult following. Ravage soon reached a level of international acclaim with the self-release of their 2003 'Curse Of Heaven' EP. The EP sold out quickly, and the band was signed to Germany's Karthago Records to release their first full-length album in 2005. Monetary issues, further line-up problems and internal strife plagued the self-financed recording which was well received by some for it's strong songs, but was often overlooked for it's weak production value. Following the release, Al, Eli, and long-time guitarist Nick Izzo (who had joined the band in 2001), put together a new line-up with local bass basher Howie 'The Mosh Pig' Snow, and drum smasher GTB who had been working with Eli on a side-project. The new line-up was invited to play at Germany's Swordbrother's festival in 2006 where the band put on a raucous display for thrilled fans who came from all over Europe. Upon their return home, the band began recording their second full-length album "The End Of Tomorrow". The next two years would see the band in and out of the studio as they completed 17 tracks including a cover of Warlock's "Cold Cold World" which was released on a Warlock Tribute album by Pure Steel Records. Ravage chose 6 of the other songs to comprise the "Freedom Fighter" EP which the band self-released in order to find a new label. With the new recording evidencing musical leaps and bounds in both song-writing and production, Ravage set out to find a cover artist who would do justic to their work. The band soon announced that they had secured the talents of the one and only master of metal cover art Ed Repka - best known for his work with MEGADETH and DEATH. Ravage's new album seemlessly intertwines the sounds of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, late 80's American Thrash Metal and late 90's European Powermetal to showcase the band's signature style. The album is sure to be enjoyed by metal maniacs young and old as it blends the soaring vocal and guitar melodies of Iron Maiden and Helloween with the raw power of thrashers like Testament and Kreator, presented in a crisply modern production-style courtesy of producer Peter Rutcho, the mastermind behind the band VOMITRON. "The End Of Tomorrow" is only the beginning for Ravage, who are only in their mid-20's despite having played together for over 10 years! The new record's release is set for mid-2009.

The End Of Tomorrow - Cover
This Is Boston – not LA? Es könnte aber auch Hamburg sein, aber auf keinen Fall Seattle. Die Jungs aus Massachussettes kopieren so ziemlich alles, was es mal gab, was gut und teuer war.
