Dead Samaritan

(Underdog)
BiografieDead Samaritan saw the dark of the night in the beginning of 2001 under the name of The Beauty Of Dying. There had been suspicious mindstorming for quite a while in the brain of one Marko Saarinen. The idea was to start playing fast, furious and melodic death metal, since we felt the finnish scene then was lacking such a band. Discussions to form this band with Pasi Lehtinen. had been popping up every once and a while, but nothing really happened for about a year, because no suitable drummer was available.

In the end of year 2000 things started moving on; Marko bumped into an old friend of his at a metal gig in Hämeenlinna. While watching one of Finland´s brightest hopes Diablo play, Marko mentioned about his yearn to play death metal, and that they were short a drummer, Janne "Homicide" Honkanen said he could give it a shot. So, there we were! It was obvious that Pasi would do vocals, but now we needed at least a bassplayer. Only one reasonable name came to Marko´s mind, and that was Marcus Moberg... They had shared a brief history in a local hardcore band called Sharpeville, and Marko knew how good and creative this guy was. Luckily Marcus agreed to come along, and there we were, we had a death metal band!

For the next six months the band practised as a four-piece, but the development of the song structures started getting more variable, so second guitarist was needed. We had certain influences in the beginning, and we needed a certain type of person to join us. Through some ads in the papers etc. we got a few interested guys contacting us, but the first bloke who saw our ad in the window of a local music shop, seemed to be the right one. So Teemu Raunio was the latest member of the band we started calling The Beauty Of Dying.

In September 2001 we headed to the studio for the first time, and recorded three songs there. The first demo was called... well, naturally it goes by the name of First Kill, since we felt this was only the beginning. The winter 2001-2002 went practising hard, and the 8th of March 2002 finally witnessed The Beauty Of Dying playing it´s first gig ever. This took place in Lahti, and the happening was called Hellbound 3. Other bands we played our first one with were Before The Dawn, Gloria Morti, Funeris Nocturnum, Nowen and Mustan Kuun Lapset. The taste in our mouths after the gig was pretty good and euphoric, though we had some minor problems during the show. But that was the debut live show, and the band is thirsting for more. Today the band is known as Dead Samaritan.

The members of the band have been playing in numerous underground bands before Dead Samaritan, and some of them still have other things going on. Mostly these bands have been quite punkish, yet heavy. Here´s some sort of list of those bands: Marcus (Sharpeville, Imeytysturve, Dead In The Water), Pasi (Sharpeville, 20/20 Vision, Agusta Bells, Dead In The Water, Unkind), Marko (Sharpeville, 20/20 Vision, Agusta Bells), Janne (Blashemia, Jalostamo, Arcadian) and our former member Teemu used to play with Withered Garden. Still functional are at least Jalostamo, Arcadian, Unkind and Dead In The Water who play very heavy, moody and dark hardcore music a bit in the vein of Sharpeville...Quelle: http://www.deadsamaritan.tk/Discografie2004 - Bone Hill Revelation
